The blizzard ended Christmas morning, but the emergency was far from over.
With first responders in Buffalo and the Northtowns finally able to start maneuvering, the devastation from the fierce winter storm that battered the region with gale force winds, lake-effect snow and bitter subfreezing temperatures was coming to light.
Sister says Buffalo man died in the blizzard on his 56th birthday On Day 3 of the storm, desperation was growing.
At least 17 people were dead, and authorities said there was no question that the death toll would increase.
I put some blame on the Weather Channel. In the last few years, they have become climate change lecturers to the point of overdoing the weather forecasting to the point of hysteria. You can hear and see the excitement in their voices when they are talking about an event that is about to happen. It’s kinda weird.
If they believe there will be no consequences for their actions, then yes ….Loot.
So, to ax the obvious question:
How many megaton strategic intercontinental nukes going off in the atmosphere all at the same time would it take to effect the same thing?
Abbott is a milquetoast phony that loves to play politics. Close the damn border using Texas resources. It’s a foreign invasion. Streets of El Paso in crisis. We live in East Texas behind the pine curtain. Hopefully, the illegals keep flocking to the urban centers and leave us country folk be.
I have one of those and a kerosene heater, plus a woodstove and a couple cords of wood.
Must be prepared.
Yes, there always is some fool who thinks “It won’t happen to me!”

I have a slightly different take on this.... A few days ago when all the Twitter ‘revelations’ started coming out, Jesse Kelly said “people are going to have to start to realize that every single thing that you’ve heard on the LSM is a lie.” That was a very true statement. Now one would think that when the topic on the media is about life and death situations, there would be some honesty that would prevail. However, the entire WuFlu episode over the past year proves that one can’t believe the life and death issues as well.
Bottom line is that one has to have the foresight to plan for these types of situations... not saying that every media report can’t be trusted but one can still plan as if they are not true and be ready.
And the other side of this is that the enemedia has to a large extent done this... when they have abandoned the truth on just about everything, it’s hard to be critical of anyone who doesn’t believe them when true emergency situations arise.
I put some blame on the Weather Channel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They are certainly one component of it but the bigger issue is that there is virtually nothing said by the complete LSM that can be believed.
To bad they don’t make coffee cans any more it would produce more heat huh.
"Well, it's actually not "Global Warming", it's "Anthropogenic Climate Change". /s
Very true. Sad state of affairs in our country isn’t it?
Sounds a little like us growing up — a few miles south of Buffalo on Lake Erie.
Our heat was a coal furnace in the basement. Dad would “shake it down” (whatever that means) at night and in the morning. The heat came up through a (approx.) 4’ x 4’ register in the living room. Then that heat wafted up through smaller registers to the bedrooms upstairs.
By morning ... COLD!! You jumped out of bed and skipped across the hard wood floors because it was too cold to linger for a full step.
“We lived in Orchard Park up near Chestnut Ridge Park at the time.”
Chestnut Ridge. We used to have our Sunday School Picnics there in the ‘50s and ‘60s.
some of the most idiotic vocalizations in the video— there is a term for who was uttering them. They think it “cool” to rip off a store... then... “runnnnn! dey shootin’”.
Someone look up the Liberty City (Miami) riots— Korean grocery store owner used firearms. The USMC Armory right next to the neighborhood was raided. Reserve Colonel in charge put a 50 Cal machine gun team with fully loaded belts on the roof of the building and trained it across the crowd— they dispersed and did not come back. Nowadays some short live burst fire would be needed to convince them that they aren’t fooling around.
Re: 84 - I think you are on the right track.
People were bombarded day after day after day about COVID and mask this, vaccinate that, etc. Many people have just tuned out those messages.
The same with weather. Messages such as “once in a generation”, “once in 50 years” etc. storms or other weather events just start to not register. People just shrug it off.
With that said, people need to have good situational awareness. There was a travel ban in place early, early on for the storm. The storm was predicted DAYS in advance. There had been a heavy lake effect snowfall just before Thanksgiving. Some people made some bad decisions and for some, it cost them their lives. Not to mention first responders not being able to get to others who had medical emergencies at home.
Excellent review of historical worldwide breakdown— natural disasters.
Have long thought the changeover from the coverstories of National Geographic magazines (which we have from the 70’s which was warning about the coming next mini-ice age) to the “new” global warming to the renamed Climate Change BS (because global warming has been largely disproven)-— this change is to the advantage of the largest holders of carbon (potential CO2 which is NOT a factor whatsoever).
Namely the petroleum companies working in concert with demonrat lefties and all the completely inefficient windmills solar, batteries that can’t make up the difference for survival. Take one look at how Europe has restarted coal fired power plants, and the nukes the Germans had shut down— they don’t give a rip about “climate change”.
Summary: we are beginning another 200 year mini-ice age. The last one in the US was ending about the time General Washington crossed the Delaware River (with block ice begining to freeze together) to wipe out the Hessians at Trenton. The Colonial days experienced decades of much colder than anything in Europe— until the American Revolution. An opinion that another one is naturally (solar based minimums) is on its way— cheery thoughts with what these idiots keep destroying in our grid.
Well no, of course not. You aren’t freezing, and I don’t particularly care about your conflicts with others here. From what I’ve seen, you’re not some helpless victim, though it appears you want to play that part.
But trying to make a thread like this, about people who are truly suffering, about *you* is just wrong.
I won’t respond further to you on here because I don’t want to help you make it about you. Good day.
trapped people were in electric vehicles?
********
Trapped long enough it wouldn’t matter
if the power source of the vehicle ran
out be petro or electric.
I was thinking the same thing as well. Even the local weather. I live in Connecticut and they’ll act like a snowstorm that’s predicted to give us say 6 inches or less of snow over the course of an entire day is the end of the world, you’re all gonna be stuck inside for a month, get prepared now, etc.
In storms like that, even most 2 Wheel Dr. cars, as long as you have decent tires can make it from point a to point B if you know what you’re doing as a slow snowfall so the plows are able to keep up and keep the roads in good shape.
I’ve heard of that before, too. No idea if if it’s an urban. Legend, or not, but I do suspect there’s definitely some truth to that.
