A Seattle official has been handed a sarcastic award for banning city workers from displaying Christmas or Hanukkah decorations in their own homes while on Zoom calls to avoid offending colleagues with different beliefs.

Gloria Ngezaho is the workforce equity manager for King County, which encompasses Seattle, and was handed the Ebenezer Award from the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty.

Ngezaho's draconian edict was first revealed in November, and he was handed the award last week over his 'Guidelines for Holiday Decorations' rules.

equality = everyone is equally free to do what they want according to their abilities, under the law of course

equity = nobody is free because they can be acted against at any time according to a predetermined, arbitrary, and changeable numeric formula

And just how many of these privileged victim jackasses are there that would not have Christmas decor up themselves?

Kwanzaa is like Twinkies to me - it’s talked about all the time, but I still don’t know a single person who ever does it.

Ebenezer means “stone of help.” From then on, every time an Israelite saw the stone erected by Samuel, he would have a tangible reminder of the Lord's power and protection. The “stone of help” marked the spot where the enemy had been routed and God's promise to bless His repentant people had been honored. The Lord had helped them, all the way to Ebenezer.

Many churches, including Martin Luther King's old parish, are named Ebenezer (אֶבֶן הָעֵזֶר).

Same here. I think the only ones who observe Kwanzaa are white woke elementary school teachers.

I’ll add that I’ve lived around a LOT of blacks, unlike some of our red-state echo chamber residents here.

... but a man can show up to school with Z-cup prosthetic breasts and a blonde wig, and teach your captive children for a year, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Ebenezer Scroggie

A dandy, a party animal, a kind and jovial fellow, and a notorious philanderer.

Namesake of the fictional character Ebenezer Scrooge. Scroggie was a vintner and corn merchant in Edinburgh who won the first whiskey supply contract for the Royal Navy and the catering contract for the visit of George IV to Edninburgh in 1822, the first British monarch to visit the city since the Battle of Culloden in 1746. Through his mother, Scroggie was the great-nephew of the 18th century political economist and philosopher Adam Smith.

In his diaries, Charles Dickens states that the Scrooge character of his 1843 novel “A Christmas Carol” stemmed from Scroggie’s grave marker which he saw on an evening walk in the Canongate Churchyard in 1841. Dickens, however mistook the inscription of “meal man” (corn merchant) for “mean man” and centered his story around the miserly character.
