Putin Says West Aiming to ‘Tear Apart’ Russia
AFP via The Moscow Times ^

Posted on 12/25/2022 7:34:11 AM PST by Salohcin

Russian President Vladimir Putin blasted the West for trying to "tear apart" Russia, in extracts from an interview to be aired on national television later Sunday.

"At the core of it all is the policy of our geopolitical opponents aiming to tear apart Russia, historical Russia," Putin said.

"They have always tried to 'divide and conquer'... Our goal is something else -- to unite the Russian people," he said.

Putin has used the concept of "historical Russia" to argue that Ukrainians and Russians are one people -- undermining Kyiv's sovereignty and justifying his 10-month offensive in Ukraine.

"We are acting in the right direction, we are protecting our national interests, the interests of our citizens, of our people," Putin said.

The president repeated claims that Moscow was "ready to negotiate with all participants in this process (to find) an acceptable solution" to the conflict.

In his first trip outside Ukraine since the offensive began in February, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earned firm pledges of support from US President Joe Biden, including the Pentagon's most advanced air defense system.

"Of course, we will destroy it, 100 percent!" Putin said, referring to the Patriot missile battery promised to Zelensky.

I actually don't think it's possible to come up with a long-term settlement that lasts based solely on mutual agreement. After all, there was mutual agreement in both 1991 and 1994 that Ukraine was independent, and with its own legal borders. Russia was perfectly fine with it then, and even congratulated Ukraine in its independence.

But then Russia got a different leader who decided that all of Ukraine is really Russia. How do we prevent another Russian leader coming down the like in 20 years and rejecting whatever deal is negotiated now?

I think that for any deal to truly lead to permanent peace, it has to be backed by security guarantees, end eventually NATO membership.

LOL!

Both you and Sunsong are FR "re-animators", nickbot.

Why doesn't it surprise me that you sprang to its defense?

It wouldn't even surprise me that you're both posting from the same computer...

“That’s an exactly what Ukraine is doing in face of Russian aggression. Shouldn’t you be on their side then?”

I was open to either side, until I researched the roots of this war, as in who instigated the war, and who was supporting each side. Then it was an easy decision.

I may have been sleeping for all these years, but Putin’s revival of the geopolitics of the 1930s has awakened me to the dangers of appeasing revanchist dictators.

"Our goal is something else -- to unite the Russian people," he said.

There, he said it! "Heim ins Reich!"

And, no doubt, Ukraine is his "last territorial demand in (Eastern) Europe!"

Newsflash: Russia has not been the U.S.’s friend or ally since December 31, 1999, and never will be.

🤔🤔🤔

9/11 a 'turning point' for Putin

When the United States prepared to attack al Qaeda in Afghanistan, Putin offered more than words of support.

"Russia will continue to provide intelligence information we have collected on the infrastructure, location and training of international terrorists," he said.

In a stunning decision, the Russian president coordinated with central Asian nations to allow U.S. forces, for the first time, to use military bases of the former Soviet Union.

More concessions by Putin followed. When Bush announced the United States was pulling out of the anti-ballistic missile treaty, Putin took it in stride -- suddenly ending a quarrel that once threatened to disrupt U.S.-Russian relations.

And when Washington sent U.S. military trainers to Georgia near the border with Russia, Putin didn't bat an eye.

"I think what he did was a revolution in terms of Russia's foreign policy," says Dmitri Trenin of the Moscow Carnegie Center.

It was Putin who started this war and it’s root cause is Putin’s desire to reconstruct “historical Russia.”

My proposal was to break off Western Ukraine, the part that traditionally belonged to Austria Hungary, and allow them to join NATO, while declaring the rest of Ukraine as neutral, not unlike the agreement that is still in place with regards to Austria.

Yep, once again. Solohcin starts in 2010, has a few posts in 2021, and then goes nuts in 2022 defending the Biden policy in Ukraine.

Would not surprise me if the two are the same.

(hint to bots: You need to post 100,000 times here, supporting conservatives, to be taken as being credible on Ukraine)

Anyone claiming Putin started the mess in Ukraine is a bot, at this point.

The logic doesn't follow in your mind, because you refuse to accept that the CIA has their fingerprints all over the color revolutions.

Even after all the evidence of what has been done in our own country. Election thefts, a total breakdown of law & order, the court systems corrupted to their very core, the grooming of our children, which are supposed to be our future. The willful disregard for our borders and the ongoing invasion along out southern border without vetting any one coming in illegally. Ignoring the importation of illegal drugs, and the trafficking of human beings. The out of control debt load being placed upon every American from newborns to the elderly. That these factor of illegal immigration add to the expenditures for the taxpayer.

The loss of liberties, the determination of who are essential workers, as well as, what are essential businesses during the plandemic to gauge just how much the population would fight back or be completely compliant. The lies perpetrated upon the U.S. population about the Covid virus, the virus's origination. That only a vaccine can be used to combat the virus. That Hydroxychloroquine & Ivermectin were unsafe & ineffective against the virus.

You then have the unmitigated gull to say they did not start this war. How completely unobservant you are to what is going on. No wonder this nation is losing . You do not even recognize the fact that the Ukraine war was devised to provide a distraction for you unobservant people. That was the easy part, because they have been making Putin & Russia the boogeymen to you useful idiots for many years, because you people do not employ critical thinking. Instead you employ emotions, and they were well aware that it would work with the useful idiots. Sadly there are either plenty of useful in both houses of Congress, or they are complicit.

Open your eyes, wake up, and begin to realize that you are no longer in the nation you were born into. When you realize that fact, then you will see that the goal is to destroy this nation. For without this nation, the world falls into communism. Quit being the useful idiot that you currently are, and join the fight to defeat the evil forces in the world.

Reject your zombie like mantra; Russia invaded Ukraine, and start to find out for yourself what is really know what transpiring.

But you people are so brainwashed you just can't bring yourselves to do so. After all, it's so much easier to claim that those of us withholding our support for this conflict, are just Putin supporters, isn't it.

I wasn't talking about you wanting the war. If you think I was then it proves just what a useful idiot you really are.

If I thought you personally wanted the war, I wouldn't even try to make you see what you all refuse to see.

Read my other response to Salohcin. Perhaps you might learn something too. That being, that you are a useful idiot who is aiding & abetting the enemy that wants to destroy this nation.

THE FUTURES OF RUSSIAN DECOLONIZATION

http://statusproject.net/the-futures-of-russian-decolonization/

That took less than two minutes of searching to find older documents.

Really it’s not that hard to find material about this. Do we think Western rulers are not as corrupt and greedy as those in China and Russia?

“Credibility is based on the strength of the argument not on repetition.”

See the difference is that if one hasn’t posted here consistently, over the years, then we tend to think they’re only here to support someone’s political agenda. In this case, as noted below, you really only seemed to show up for Ukraine...doesn’t look good, at least here at FR, since we can’t hide our histories here.

—” due to the continued Ukraine escalation,”

Ukraine is massively outnumbered and outgunned by the mighty Russian dreadnought.
So I must ask how it is they escalated anything?
Are they otherwise holding back?
If so what?

Perhaps when someone knocked out Putin’s bridge on his birthday.
Too bad, so sad.

Please stop with the mythology. The Euromaidan Revolution was not a palace coup carried out by a small handful of well-placed CIA assets. It was a mass popular uprising supported by hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians who wanted no part of Yanukovich’s surrender of the country to Russian domination.

The rest of your argument are non sequiturs that have no bearing on the fact that the Ukrainians had rejected closer ties to Russia and were, and are, in preference for closer ties to the West.
