McConnell calls Trump ‘diminished,’ vows to find ‘quality’ Senate candidates in 2024

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said former President Trump’s political power is “diminished” following his endorsed candidates’ lackluster performance in the midterm elections and vowed to find “quality” candidates for Senate races in 2024.

“Here’s what I think has changed: I think the former president’s political clout has diminished,” McConnell said in a interview with NBC News released on Friday.

Despite predictions of a “red wave” in this November’s midterm elections, Republicans lost ground in the Senate and only managed to secure a slim majority in the House. Many in the GOP have since placed the blame on Trump and the far-right candidates he supported.

“We lost support that we needed among Independents and moderate Republicans, primarily related to the view they had of us as a party — largely made by the former president — that we were sort of nasty and tended toward chaos,” McConnell told NBC.

“And oddly enough, even though that subset of voters did not approve of President Biden, they didn’t have enough confidence in us in several instances to give us the majority we needed,” he continued.

McConnell initially voiced concerns in August about Republicans’ chances in the Senate, pointing to a “candidate quality” issue in an apparent reference to the extreme candidates endorsed by Trump.

Position of power. Not position. Kemp and the Republican establishment in Georgia are as corrupt as Mitch McConnell and Nancy Pelosi.

Look at the Republican state mine inspector in Arizona. Got the most votes of anyone in AZ history in last election — probably reflective of the actual number of votes Kari Lake got.

Understand: once a state is corrupted, there will never be a non-corrupt person in power again. Trump snuck in during 2016 because he overwhelmed Hillary’s fraud.

Then they had MUCH MORE fraud pre-planned in 2020, but he got the most votes in U.S. history, which again they weren’t expecting. So they had to cheat publicly, obviously and really clumsily.

In GA, PA, AZ, NV etc, they can and will manufacture enough ballots through ‘mail in’ that it really doesn’t matter who the candidates are or how they campaign. The corrupt person will win.

We have to face this. Moronic analyses that ignore the fraud are literally pointless and distractions.

Well. I sure as hell am not going to vote in 2024. Won’t make a damn bit of difference either.

McConnell can go straight to hell. There is a place waiting for him.

The polticians aren't the problem, it's the voters. I am going to stop talking about politicians and start putting the blame where it really belongs. The stupid, ignorant 'Murican voter!

The LP might appeal? They’ve been taken over by a new faction. Gone has all the liberal cr*p from their policies and platform.

Wrong. Trump won in 2020. The voters aren’t the problem

The vote COUNtERS are the problem.

There are definitely moronic Dem voters everywhere. But they are a minority in the elections of the last few years.

The voters’ will is being cancelled by fraud. Period.

Disagree. Yes there is cheating in that the Rats target certain precincts. But has a Republican won the popular vote in the last 20+ years? Even if Trump won in 2020, he still wouldn’t have won the popular vote.

The one thing I gave Romney some credit for was his “47%” comment. But I suspect since then that percentage has gone up even more.

The best evidence for that is the number of people who seem to be getting by (maybe more than getting by!) and not working. Did anyone other than me see the article that reports federal, state, local benefits allow people to make money without working a low $37k (Mississippi) to a high $122K (Washington State). Why would they vote (Republican) to turn off such a gravy train? Romney’s 47% is likely low we may have crossed the point of no return 50+%!

Likely almost all. They don’t like engaged people who expect them to be accountable. They want sheep who don’t question their corruption.

You can’t trust any of those numbers. Seriously, they are so easily manipulated it’s comical.

I worked in Risk Management for a major E-commmerce company for 15 years.

I can tell you this: if there is an incentive for fraud, and there is nothing stopping it, it’s happening. Period.

I made a career out of that simple premise, finding and stopping 10s of millions of $ of fraud that no one had noticed.

There is no greater dollar-value prize in this world than control of the U.S. government, which is defined by votes.

And there is NOTHING stopping vote fraud, which can occur on a massive scale in dozens of ways. Easily.

You have the biggest incentive in the world and no prevention. In fact, like in Arizona, the officials running the vote are clearly condoning the fraud. It’s happening and it’s been happening, in many cases is a blatantly obvious way. Face the facts.
