Much of the United States will either get a White Christmas or a bitterly cold one, as the forecasts for the country see snowstorms and temperatures in the deep south as low as the 20s.
Forecasters are warning of treacherous holiday travel and life-threatening cold for much of the nation as an arctic air mass blows into the already-frigid southern United States, with experts predicting the 'coldest Christmas in years.'
The coming week has the potential for 'the coldest air of the season' as the strong arctic front marches across the eastern two-thirds of the country in the days before Christmas, according to the latest forecasts from the federal Weather Prediction Center.

THE SKY IS FALLING! - THE SKY IS FALLING! - THE SKY IS FALLING!
He lives on the Panhandle. ;)
We are undoubtely a lot softer than we were 40 years ago. And a lot more forgetful.
We never missed a beat getting to work in that deep freeze.
ok, so northwest of Gainesville. That makes sense..
Weds will be -30 here in SW Montana 😂
I’m about a 1/2 hour from Cross City..
Greta has the right to say "I told you so" and canoe back to Scandinaivia but I'm thinking that if we all collectively apologize to this wonderful and beautiful young woman and take her back into our hearts, she will forgive us. She will forgive all of us, even Joe Bastardi, the mean weatherman from Pennsylvania who makes her so angry sometimes, that she wants to stomp her feet and make loud harrumphing noises.
If we can only bring her back to our side, she will huff and she will puff and she will thaw out Texas for us with the kind of hot air that only she can blow - while simultaneously getting those windmills to turn around and provide ample clean power for us all forever and ever and ever.
Winter’s coming, Women and children harmed worst.
If you get a white Christmas where you live, please send me a photo. That would be quite a sight.
I think we will have a white Christmas this year if the forecast holds correctly. I just hope it doesn’t make travel for my daughter too difficult. She hasn’t been with us for Christmas for 3-4 years. I guess this would make 4 years. Last time she was here at the holidays it was 2018.
Ha...I said the same thing to the Mrs. this morning. Better load up on ice melt ‘cause it’s going to fly of the shelves and pallets this year!
Weatherman tells us the temps on Christmas Day will be in the 20’s!..................HERE, ON THE GULF COAST!.............
Ok so now you have me guessing. My brother used to live in Cross City a long time ago, in the mid to late 70’s. Our family homestead is in Gainesville. Only two siblings are still there. I’m the furthest away. Most are scattered around Florida, and one brother is in NE Georgia.
Dang near! Where I sit is about a mile from the Gulf..............
I remember that December. Single digits in GA. Just broke up with my girlfriend so it was extra cold.
8 going down to 3 in Wisconsin
Well, on the other hand, thank God for global warming, just think how much colder it would be. We need to collectively run our vehicles on idle for an hour or so to help the climate out of this cold snap.
Global warming and a few extra volcanic eruptions are the cause of this... A few more volcanic eruptions and who knows... Global warming may lead to no more summers.
Yep - 12° forecast in my neck of the woods and back in the 60s by midweek next week.
At least they’re not calling for any precipitation. That could make things very messy.
It seems to me that growing up in Gainesville, temps in the 20s in the winter weren’t unheard of, though I don’t remember temps in the teens much until I left for college. I also remember (and have photos of myself) wearing shorts and short sleeves outside at Christmastime.
I hope we get several inches just before Christmas. Makes for pretty pictures.
Green Bay games will be brutal!.................
