WNBA star Brittney Griner freed as part of prisoner exchange with Russia, White House says

MOSCOW, Russia — Houston native and WNBA star Brittney Griner has been freed as part of a prisoner exchange with Russia, according to the White House.

Griner was exchanged for Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, labeled the “Merchant of Death.” This was a one-for-one swap.

American and Michigan corporate security executive Paul Whelan was not part of the exchange.

Don’t take this the wrong way ... just to keep to the facts - Paul Whelan got a Bad Conduct discharge for stealing over $10k and forging his own records and e-mails from his superiors (he recommended himself to be awarded the Legion of Merit).

Saying he served honorably is not strictly true.
