We’re facing the same problem the founders faced. No British court was ever going to legitimize their grievances and waiting for that to happen would have been fruitless. We’ll just have to work our way through this the best we can.
I think some are missing the point about the Constitution. The problem isn’t so much that there are flaws in our Constitution. Maybe the founders could have put some additional provisions in it that would have made our current predicament less likely, but ultimately there is no Consitution, however perfect it may be, that can provide a remedy once the reins of power have been taken over by criminals who refuse to abide by its provisions. A constitution is just a piece of paper. It requires a government that is faithful to its words for it to work. We’ve reached the point where that is no longer the case.
When the government no longer allows its citizens to seek a remedy for their grievances, it has become illegitimate and lost the consent of the governed. As far as our fellow citizens who don’t yet understand this, we’ll just have to explain it to them the best we can.
