Sir Tony, who has made several documentaries about climate change, says he has been "frustrated for quite some time" about the way the issue is discussed.
Sir Tony Robinson, star of Blackadder and veteran presenter of Time Team, has told Sky News he wants the message of climate change to be less about doom and gloom and more hopeful.
"I've been frustrated for quite some time about the way we talk about climate change," he said.
"It's like there's nothing but doom and gloom.
"We might as well just suck our thumbs, sit in the corner and wait to die."
Sir Tony, who has made several documentaries about climate change, was speaking to mark the launch of video game Floodland, a survival title set after a climate-induced apocalypse.
The city-builder forces players to contend with environmental challenges as humanity attempts to survive after a catastrophic flood wipes out most of the population.

Climate has been warming since the last Ice Age.
And it was a lot warmer during the Medieval Warm Period when the Vikings named the place they landed Greenland.
It’s fake but imagine it’s real.
So much cold region would be more temperate.
But they only claim a few degrees.
It’s only because once it’s implemented the doom and gloom of power blackouts and food shortages will start and they will be for real.
For those who profit from it the great thing is that it has infinite longevity.
It will never die out because the forecast changes will never happen so the 5 year and 10 year warnings can repeat ad infinitum.
Just look at the Al Gore warnings from years ago.
Last time I checked Manhattan Island and Miami were still above sea level.
I don't know, but it seems that all the older, but not what you would call highly development civilizations, live on or about the equator.....maybe.
Someone once said, "Necessity is the mother of invention". Maybe the cold brings hard work and inspiration. The cold air would certainly be more dense and thereby more oxygen to the brain..(?)

Half the US was supposed to have been flooded by the melted icebergs 10 years ago. Mar-a-Lago was supposed to be under water by now, too.
We were supposed to have been in a mini ice age back in the 70s or so my science teacher said.
He wasn't the person that was informative, but the experts in their various fields. It was clear from the inane questions that Sir Tony asked them, that he was as dumb as a brick. Many times I was embarrassed for him that he could not wrap his mind around what was being discovered in a trench.
If you think I was referring to his acting roles, I have watched only a handfull of the Blackadder shows from the four different series runs and of course do not remember Tony Richardson's role, but for a momentary snapshot in my mind of a slapstick shtick where Rowan Atkinson hits him, I believe.
Who does not remember the Science Fair entries where a student increased the Carbon dioxide level in plastic tents and proved that plants thrive and grow the more Carbon dioxide they are provided?
The solution to an increase in Carbon dioxide is to plant more trees. When I was in the Boy Scouts in the 1960's we planted thousands of pine trees in pastures and lands where pulp wood loggers had harvested the mature trees. It's what we did to improve the world.
It's the cycle of life. Living creatures breathe in oxygen and respire CO2 and plants take in CO2 and give off oxygen. Any so called Climate Expert who does not acknowledge that is an idiot and a fool.
Tony Robinson should have denounced the Climate Changer minions instead of attempting to ameliorate the situation.
