The answer is “money.” Now, what was your question?

I know he wasn’t asked any of those questions by a Democrat...

Apple was Steve Jobs. He was a jerk but he was also an actual visionary leader who just kept the company pushing the envelop on what was possible with new products that seemed - at the time - straight out of science fiction tales.

His successor is a hack who churns out the same products year after year with minor changes and collects all the money that flows in regardless. But he's proven to also be a fascist minded hack who wants censorship and supports tyrants.

But hey, he brings in the cash so go fascism I guess.

Point to note, features and functionality of our phones can be remoted turned off. If that happens, are we ready with alternatives? In the US, are Apple and our service providers, liable if they turn things off, e.g., at government request or for political reasons (like maybe we are attending a MAGA event with Trump?)

Apple is a Chinese company, with pretend headquarters in California, and most sales in the U.S.

The Chinese have Tim Cook by the balls (I’m sure he’d enjoy that for sure). He can’t say no to his bosses in China.

If I understand this, if you don’t update the software, the feature still works. I’ve never understood why everyone automatically updates their software. I’ve NEVER done this with Win7 and while everyone else has had to buy a new computer, mine still works just fine after about 10 yrs. I have a real problem allowing someone, somewhere, getting into my computer via “software update.” For all we know they could be installing child porn, just leaving it in there in case it’s needed to remove you from polite society. We have no idea what they’re installing on our computers via this mechanism.
