Ok, let’s play the game by your rules. She said that 100,000 “officers” not “soldiers” were killed. With a typical enlisted to officer ratio for a mobilized army of 10 to 1, this implies that total killed, officers and troops, would be 1,100,000 and about another 3,300,000 wounded. Does total Ukrainian casualties of 4,400,000 sound credible?

Perhaps officers are becoming casualties at twice the rate of enlisted men (I don’t see how this would be the case if, as you claim, the casualties are due to Russian artillery bombardments, but we’ll consider this possibility). In this scenario total casualties would be 2,400,000, with 600,000 killed and 1,800,000 wounded. That’s not really credible either.

So, either we take every word she said as the literal truth, leaving us with millions of Ukrainian casualties, or conclude that she spoke imprecisely and didn’t understand the terms that she was using. Are you still insisting on the first proposition with the implied millions of casualties? If that were true there would be no Ukrainian army left and the Russians would already be in Kyiv.

Ukraine is getting its ass kicked. Russia owns the air space. Ukraine's electric grid is on the verge of collapse. Yet, you and your ilk couldn't care less how many Ukrainians die.

So you agree that she misspoke, but only about “officers” vs “soldiers” but not about “killed” vs “casualties.” I’m so glad that you are a mind reader. It’s curious though, that you yourself just referred to her statement as being about “casualties.”

Leaving that aside, neither you nor I know as FACT the actual casualty figures. We can only guess based on our judgment on the state of the war. So let’s look at your other claims.

Although I’ll grant you that the Russian attacks on the civilian electrical grid are worrisome, these attacks are not designed to damage the Ukrainian military forces, but instead are intended to terrorize the civilian population into surrendering. They have minimal affect on Ukrainian military casualties.

It is simply not true that Russia owns the airspace. The Ukrainian air force is still able to fly air missions against Russian positions. The Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities are being conducted by long-range missiles. This is hardly evidence of air supremacy.

Similarly, the Russian retreats from Kharkiv and Kherson belies any notion that Ukraine is getting its ass kicked.

Finally, and most outrageously, is your faux concern for Ukrainian lives. It is Russia, with your cheerleading, who is killing them!

You may be correct, but then why the fumbling move to try and erase it, rather than correct it?

I don’t have a better idea, but sitting in trenches while your enemy pounds you for days is an awful situation. Even if you survive without getting wounded by shrapnel, the numbers taken out by disease and battle fatigue must be very large.
