Russia didn't move into the Ukraine in a bloodthirsty and blitzkrieg way because President Putin considered the people there as fellow ancestral countrymen and only wanted to liberate them from the Nationalist Socialists that had taken over their government.
These special circumstances and feeling of camaraderie has now eroded since February and new tactics and strategies are in play.

I have stated here often that I want Russia to win this war. Not because I necessarily like them but because, (1) They appear to be the lesser of two undesirables. At least the Russians don’t worship the rainbow unicorn. At least the Russians didn’t finance the Biden crime family. (2) Because Biden is for Ukraine, and I refuse to take Biden’s side in anything. (3) We have been lied to by the media, I have no idea if there is even a war being fought.
I don’t think the Russians are orcs anymore than the Ukrainians are. Assuming anything I read or see about the conflict is true, it appears to be devolving into a nasty, brutal, no-holds-barred slug fest. People, sometimes civilians, die in war.
It is, as Robert E Lee said, “Good that war is so unpleasant, otherwise we should grow fond if it.” The only way this stops is when one side surrenders. No negotiated peace.
