From 1,800 feet in the air, the pilot of this tiny, four-seater plane points to a stretch of land marked by a smattering of farms and one arterial road.
“That’s the Wisconsin border,” he says. “Doesn’t look like much from up here.”
But that sliver of land now marks a barrier between legal and illegal abortion care after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
The pilot is part of a growing network of pilots who, through a fledgling Illinois nonprofit, are volunteering time, equipment and expertise to help connect people with abortion care. But there are risks, too, from antagonism and harassment from anti-abortion groups to potential legal threats, which is why the pilot asked that his name not be used in this story.
“Pilots take tremendous pride in the freedom we have to fly,” he says. “I can fly anywhere I want to. I don’t have to file a flight plan. I don’t have to talk to air traffic control. It felt right to use these freedoms to help someone whose freedoms are being threatened.”

Twenty years ago, my small town had an abortion clinic. People weren’t happy about it. The owner of the building where the clinic was located found that his other businesses were falling on hard times almost as if they were being shunned. The clinic closed along with his other business and the owner moved away.
What is ‘caring’ about killing a child? Must be newspeak like President Biden or VP Harris... 🤓
With the wide open Southern border and plenty of mules humping the majority of the illegal drugs from Mexico into the USA...the need for pilots must’ve dropped to bring in that Schiff. But these fly-by-nighters gotta earn a living. Murder is murder, whether by fentanyl, or by scalpel.

He'd be a fool not to file a flight plan, even in VFR conditions, especially in winter. If he makes an emergency landing with radios and transponder out in an area without cell coverage, Air Traffic Control won't know he's past an arrival time and won't send out emergency responders. Any medical or cold weather gear in his aircraft isn't going to help him if the plane's on fire. He and his passengers could quickly succumb to injuries or cold.

In VFR flight in Class E, he's not controlled by ATC.

Hmmm....The liberals are probably looking forward to when one of these flights is involved in a fatal crash. Because they will use any death as an opportunity to advocate for the killing of the unborn.
Don’t make these pilots out to be heroes.
They are just as evil as human traffickers, and in a way that is exactly what they are.
They are trafficking unborn babies to be killed.
And I feel right to use my freedom to help someone whose very LIFE is going to be soon snuffed out by aiding and abetting serial killers like you do.
