Yeah, what is up with all the Indian people in Dallas? Seems like Frisco is majority Indian right now.
So, I no longer need a PHD in math with a MBA to drive a forklift on the loading dock?
yup you’re right, good catch=- complete brainfart on my part- i used to be good at adding, as we were taught basics in school instead of the crap kids are forced to learn these days- We used to have to add in our heads, without calculators too- - now my brain is tired out-
lol sorry- you are over qualified-
excuse my post to you- had major brainfart- shoulda been 20 + 63 cents- not 37 cents- not too with it today-
So am I.
At my last job before self-employment....some 22 years ago I bought 6 of them and along with some assistance from the corporate sales manager, replaced all of the run-of-the-mill motivational posters with the demotivators. Sadly, not a single executive noticed the change. They were on the wall for about 6 months before I moved on.
LOL, but your story lives on. :)
IBM preferred to hire music majors rather computer science majors during the 1960s. Music majors could be taught without preconceived notions from interfering with their training.
That place was a sweatshop with fluorescent lighting. Management had absolutely no regard for employees and it showed in an annual 44% turnover rate. 67% percent if you singled out the professional turnover.
I pretty much figured out my HR position there was worthless early on. Along with a group of other managers, we formed what we called the UBANGI tribe: United Brotherhood Against Nut-Grabbing Idiots. Focused on malicious compliance and practical jokes.
About 6 years later, the company made a midnight move out of state, notifying employees of the plant’s closure by email and voicemail.
Other people who can’t spell. ;-D
The best software engineer I ever worked with used to be a UPS truck driver. He self-educated.
Damn, the turnover sounds like a McDonalds…
Yep, but you needed a guild.
Not really. Our society will collapse pretty soon.
You really can’t trust monkeys. Trust me on this.
No, they just don't pass decent selections on to the managers. They pass along the politically correct choices.
They don't know how to screen for competence.
“Might be better to train new employees instead of hoping they show up with all the skills they need.”
A friend of ours was hired to work for a top level home building construction company. The person doing the hiring insisted that the applicants have absolutely zero construction background, so they could be trained the right way. Now the guy owns his own franchise and is very successful.
This makes no sense to me. Why would a company give HR and not the supervisors and upper management directly connected with electrial distribution the ability to select a candidate for the position.
No wonder we are losing our competitive edge in many industries. I am glad I am retired. When I do get a gig to teach an on-line course the college is so obsure or the skill set very specific that I have little competition.
“Even with a college degree, a lot of people are just useless.”
I worked in an HR department with 15 employees. Two of us did not have college degrees. We were the ones the Director called in to fix the messes the others made.
