What’s wrong of living next to the oil well?
Oil is a natural resource, basically organic. Nothing artificial!

I'd definitely rather live near an oil well than near a windfarm. I lean toward Thomas Gold's theory that oil is a renewable resource that comes from deep within the earth - nothing to do with fossils.

There are lots of oil wells pumping 24/7 in LA right now. Many are actually in buildings so that you can not see them.

There was so much oil in the LA area that it was leaking out of the ground. The La Prea Tar Pits is an example of this.

As a lad growing up in the 50s I went to a school that was a half mile from maybe two or three dozen oil wells. The newer ones were metal and looked like grasshoppers and the older ones were still made of wood. Just went up and down, almost hypnotic. Don’t remember very much sound from them and they weren’t surrounded by dead birds.
