(LifeSiteNews) – In perhaps the greatest defeat conservatives have ever suffered at the hands of Republican Party, the Senate today advanced Democrats’ bill to enshrine same-sex “marriage” into federal law in a vote of 62 to 37.
Twelve Republican senators joined with all Democrats to pass the bill, the “Respect for Marriage Act,” including: Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Rob Portman of Ohio, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Roy Blunt of Missouri, Richard Burr of North Carolina, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Joni Ernst of Iowa, Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, Dan Sullivan of Alaska, and Todd Young of Indiana.
Democrats needed the support of 10 Republicans to clear the Senate’s 60-vote filibuster threshold.
Today’s vote came despite the objections of many of the most prominent conservative groups in the U.S., including the Heritage Foundation, Alliance Defending Freedom, the Family Research Council, thousands of Christian churches and institutions, and the overwhelming majority of Republican voters who oppose federal legislation to codify homosexual “marriage.”
The Respect of Marriage Act makes same-sex “marriage” the law of the land, ensuring that all 50 states must recognize such unions, regardless of state laws, in the event the Supreme Court overturns its 2015 decision, Obergefell v. Hodges, which mandates legal recognition of same-sex “marriage” nationwide.

Yes he sounds like a kook.
Apparently, the House had already passed this abomination back in July. So now when Sleepy Joe signs it, it will become law. Of course, I will not recognize or obey it.
I just checked Wikipedia to see when Manchin is up for re-election. It’s 2024. The last thing posted regarding his standing in the polls is: “A September 2022 poll showed him trailing three potential Republican challengers by as much as 15%.” Still two years to go if he decides to stay in the race for re-election. A lot can change in that time. I hope you’re right, and that the seat can be taken over by a Republican. Let’s just hope if it is a Republican that wins the race, that it is a true Conservative.
Article V COS.
Supreme Court will over-rule it. Congress has no control over marriage or abortion.
No, it’s a Marxist magazine for CINOs. (Christians In Name Only)
Indiana may be a Republican state, but it elects some hard core GOP-e politicians, like Todd Young, Dan Coats, Mike Pence, Dan Quayle.
Possibly. Probably. I don’t pretend to know what Christ wants from us all the time, but I also don’t have the gravitas to claim MY political leanings please God - unlike such magazines that have lost all class.
I’ve seen multiple Mormon Republicans and conservatives voicing support of gay marriage the last several years. Glenn Beck, one fellow I know locally, and now Mitt Romney. I’ve suspected for some time that they want to pave the way for a return of legalized polygamy.
The Republicans who support this Dem bill are Dems in drag....They don’t represent their constituents and should pay back the RNC monies used to get elected as Republican when in reality they are Dems.
