Pence would have been correct and able to stop the count under the law on the books.

If you have 41 minutes, here's Ted Cruz speaking about Ray Epps:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZ50o7QQylk

Here is Cruz posting on his web page on January 3, 2021 about him appearing on Fox News discussing forming an 'Electoral Commission' to conduct an emergency audit of the 2020 election:

https://www.cruz.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/sen-cruz-we-have-an-obligation-to-the-constitution-to-ensure-that-this-election-was-lawful

Here is an excerpt:

"We have an independent obligation to the Constitution. We have an independent obligation to the rule of law. Look, we've got a vote on January 6 on certification, and every member of Congress faces a dilemma, frankly two pretty lousy choices. One, we can vote to certify [and] not consider any objections. If we do that, that will be heard by a lot of Americans as saying, ‘We don't think voter fraud is a real concern. We don't think these claims should be investigated thoroughly.' I know that's not what most of us believe. But secondly, and I think all of us rightly don't want to be in a position where we're suggesting setting aside the results of an election, just because the candidate that we supported didn't happen to prevail. That's not a principled constitutional position. That's why when in assembling this group of 11 senators, I was looking for a third option. An option that was really moored in the law."

"I went back and looked at the historical precedents. I think the strongest precedent is the presidential election of 1876, Hayes versus Tilden. In that election, there were serious allegations of fraud in three different states: Florida, Louisiana, and South Carolina. What did Congress do in 1876? They didn't throw up their hands and say, ‘Well gosh, we've got allegations of fraud but we can't do anything about it. We've just got to certify.' No. They didn't do that. What they did instead is they appointed a commission - an Electoral Commission - [which] consisted of five House members, five Senators, [and] five Supreme Court justices. They considered evidence [and] they examined the ballots and they made a determination based upon what the disputed ballots and what the outcome should be. What I'm arguing for is Congress ought to do the same thing. We ought to have a fair inquiry, a fair audit into these results, and we ought to resolve these claims - not just dismiss them out of hand."

So Ted had already laid the groundwork for a delay in counting the Electoral Vote, got 11 senators to agree with him, and announced his intentions on Fox News on January 3rd.

The January 6th Capitol invasion ruined those plans.

That is an incredible revelation.

The only thing I can think that would “validate” Congress pushing through with the certs is the fact that Inauguration is in late Jan now, whereas in 1876 it was in March.

Often people remember conversations differently, especially conversations from many months ago where there is growing animosity between people.

The Bush FR cadre is making an all out effort to remove Trump from the equation. The problem is these people are so arrogant and stupid that most of the Trump voters see right through their never ending BS promises and know they are not for the common American. The GOP congresses of 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016 showed they are utterly useless.

Without Trump the GOP brand is deader than a Friday at 4:15, they literally offer nothing other than we are not Democrats vote for us and the people know they are lying because their mouths are moving.

I didn’t see any usefulness in the guy. The only VP in history to actually have a job to do, 4 years to prepare, and he blows it. What did Trump see in this guy? Talk about an insurance policy. It’s Trump against the Uni-party.

Trump is wounded. The knives are coming out. The GOP is going to need to get him out, fast. If they allow him to get cornered, he is going to go nuts on them.

Trump will not go gently into that good night. Those who think he will are seriously misjudging his attitude.

I perceive that at this point in his life, all he has is his legacy, and he will fight in any manner that he can to rehabilitate it. I think he has always been driven by narcissism.

If people think he will go quietly, they are fools. He will burn it all down first. He has nothing to lose at that point.

But the storming of the Capitol killed the deals Cruz had with other Senators, and they pushed through the counting of the Electoral Votes.

Some of us are quite aware of this, and that's why some of us think this was entirely the point and the whole "J6" thing was a false flag operation by agents of the other side.
