The Republicans had a pretty good midterm election despite what pundits are claiming. The GOP must win three of the remaining four Senate races to win control of the upper chamber — a goal well within reach as Republicans lead in Nevada and Wisconsin. And the party is within spitting distance of a House majority.
But no red wave. A combination of better-than-expected Democratic enthusiasm and underperforming Republican candidates squandered several opportunities to flip House seats and give the GOP a sizable House majority in January.
How did this happen? If you ask most of the media, the fault for the underperforming Republican Party rests with Donald Trump.
Former Obama campaign strategist David Plouffe said, “I think you have to say Donald Trump has now presided over two disastrous midterm elections.” That’s a matter of opinion. First, Trump did not “preside” over the 2022 midterms. Plouffe is getting his talking points mixed up with reality. Trump wasn’t on the ballot no matter how hard Democrats wished it were so.
Secondly, 2018 wasn’t much of a “disaster,” given that Republicans gained two Senate seats. They lost the House — just as Democrats will almost certainly lose the House in 2022.
“Given the history of presidents in power, Democrats controlling all of Washington, inflation, this should’ve been a much stronger night for Republicans,” Plouffe said. “A bunch of reasons for that. But at the top of them is Donald Trump. He’s deeply unpopular, he supported a bunch of horrible Senate candidates who may end up coughing up the football here.”
The fact that Trump is “unpopular” outside the Republican Party was pointed out by several pundits. This is “analysis”? Trump entered office in 2017 and his favorable numbers were almost immediately underwater.

Oh, they will. The left will indeed come after any and every republican running for high office. That much is clear.
But that does not mean we should consider it our only destiny to remain chained by the ankle to any one particular politician, Trump included?
Are we to remain in support of him only, until he becomes, say, Rupert Murdoch’s age? (91).
I have no such intention. That sounds like a cult of one set personality, vs a political party based on ideas, ideals and strategies.
Neocons and DeDantinistas are out for blood
I know who to blame
Leftists
This nation is full of them and boomers are dying off making it worse

I am so disgusted with the bad mouthing about Trump, especially from those who should be thanking him. He more than did his part to get them elected. It is not his fault if they didn’t win. I’ve never seen one person have so much criticism. I wish he and Ron DS would get their heads together and run as a team. If they don’t neither one of them can win. The conservatives who love Trumps ability will not vote for DS. MAGA or nothing.
For the record it’s called a PIE hole
No one knows what a pope hole is in relation to your comment
We're talking about the same Republicans that were throwing winnable races this cycle, right?
Leaving aside Eddie Munster and the Turtle deliberately coughing up the House and the Senate when they had their chance.
Yes. It’s trumped up.
Rino dem deep state uniparty media divide and conquer swill.
This is from analytics by Drazabot 2022:
That graph looks just like a lot of those voting results from 2020.
It's "The Fraud Kick".
There will be compensation down the line - book deal, maybe some sort of sinecure where she picks up a large wad of walking-around money..
Read it again Mt Grammar. I said pipe hole. Not pope hole, Internet tough guy. GFY.
But no red wave. A combination of better-than-expected Democratic enthusiasm and underperforming Republican candidates …. . . but no fraud whatsoever. Right.
So you’re so consumed by Trump hate that you want $5 gas, massive inflation, threat of war with Russia, just so you can have no mean tweets.
Trump won 2020.
The Dems cheated brazenly.
“Former Obama campaign strategist David Plouffe said”
Absolute BS!
“Trump only cares about himself “
Your on the wrong URL.
And are making no points here.
You said: “The south will get bigger as the only option for righties in yankee land who are fed up”
I was precinct election judge on Tuesday. We had ZERO fraud.
We did have a large number of new voters. My family has been here since 1889, but I did not know 1/2 of the voters who cast their ballot on election day. My assistant and I spent some time talking to them. She asked several of them how they decided to move to our town. They gave varying answers, but clearly all were trying to find a nice quiet place to ride out this disaster.
There is a quiet invasion by what I see as good new residents. They are running from the cities, many are retired or about to retire. A lot of them are from out of state. (not CA)
It was an interesting election. And Texas is still very very strongly in GOP hands.
Thanks. That is revealing. We’ve seen that before.
Why did DeSantis run for governor if he’s going to spend most if his time running against Trump?
Florida needs a governor—FL voters should tell Ron to be Governor, that’s why they elected him!
Where do these people get their BS? The GOP candidates did great considering the election fraud hasn’t been cleaned up anywhere but Florida since 2020.
