Georgia Senate Race Heads to Runoff on December 6
Townhall ^ | 11/09/2022 | Spencer Brown

As the drama of the midterms continues with the balance of power in the House and Senate still unknown, at least one campaign just got extended another several weeks as the U.S. Senate race in Georgia heads to a December 6th runoff between Democrat incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock and GOP challenger Herschel Walker.

BREAKING: Raphael Warnock (D) and Herschel Walker (R) advance to a runoff for U.S. Senate in Georgia @DecisionDeskHQ projects

pic.twitter.com/Tn2UalJABe— InteractivePolls (@IAPolls2022) November 9, 2022

According to Decision Desk HQ, the two candidates are separated by roughly 35,000 votes with Warnock drawing 49.42% of the more than 3.9 million votes cast to Walker's 48.52% — neither clearing the 50% threshold necessary to win outright in Tuesday's general election and avoid a runoff.

With a few U.S. Senate races still yet to be called out West, it's not clear whether Georgia will again determine the final balance of power in the upper chamber for the new Congress as it did with 2021's special elections that saw both Republican candidates lose to Democrats Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.

If the outcome of Georgia's race becomes the deciding vote in a Senate majority, the Peach State will again become the center of focus for both parties' national apparatus and draw big-name surrogates and even more outside money as the GOP and Democrats go for broke to try and win or retain power over the Senate.

The way things stand, Democrats are leading in Arizona's Senate race while Republicans are up in Nevada's contest. If those trends continue and Sen. Mark Kelly hangs onto power in AZ while Adam Laxalt unseats Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, then yet again Georgia will determine whether Republicans end the cycle with a Senate majority or if things remain the way they started with a 50-50 split.

*UPSHOT*

1️⃣ If Democrats win NV and AZ Senate races, they hold the Senate. (Democrats are leading in AZ and expected to win, NV will be a razor-thin margin but the fundamentals slightly favor Democrats.)

2️⃣ If Democrats win AZ but lose NV, the Senate hinges on a Georgia runoff.— Seth Abramson (@SethAbramson) November 9, 2022

Here we go again.

Well, it seems that the real winners in this election were the nabobs who bet on continuing communist election fraud...

The thing is, Roe v. Wade should have pretty much de-politicized the abortion issue, because it’s in the hands of the States now. But then Miss Lindsey goes shooting her mouth off and it was like Manna from Heaven for the Democrats.

I agree 100%. And he knew damn well what he was doing when he started babbling about a national abortion ban. It was deliberate sabotage. Oh how I despise that effeminate little weasel!

The elimination of the Libertarian candidate (who got around 2%, last I looked) will help Hersch.

It didn't help Warnock or Ossoff in the last runoff in 2020.

The fact that Kemp looks to have won by 300,000 votes bodes well for Walker. The votes are out there, go earn them!

It won’t help him. The only thing that will help is for every Republican to get back to the polls.

Every single Republican who ran statewide had an easy win yesterday, except Walker. He won’t have Kemp’s coattails and the specter of a governor Stacy Abrams bringing Republicans out to vote. Democrats voters will be enthusiastic and legion.

GA Republicans sat at home in 2020’s runoffs and I expect they may do the same for this one.

Democrats have armies of activists mobilized to get people to vote.

Every time a libertarian vote for a libertarian because I don’t like the Republican it always helps the Democrats.

The time he would have won them was yesterday. Wasn’t just Kemp who won big statewide in Georgia. Walker benefited from the surge of voting to get to the runoff but it won’t be there in Dec. He underperformed.

He’s not likely to do better in the run off.

I am as big a Trump fan as anyone on this site, but Trump made a huge mistake opposing Kemp.

Like him or not, Kemp is obviously popluar here in Georgia.

A lot of folks simply voted for Kemp because they didn’t like the way Trump ran him down after the 2020 election.

I am not saying I agree with all that Kemp does, but the Georgia voters basically told Trump to get lost.

I proudly voted for Herschel yesterday and will do so again in December. I don’t see how he can win, though.

Why don't you say it again? You are miserably negative. Can't imagine the torment your wife and kids go through on a daily basis dealing with your black moods.

Hershel should be pounding on the late term abortion issues.

Walker participated in at least two abortions. He might want to keep a low profile on that.

Walker has to figure out a way to keep Trump out of Georgia without pissing him off. Trump is now poison. If he goes there it will be Warnock again.

people seem to be downplaying it maybe because it hasn't been a total massacre like they had hoped..

The problem is that the RINOs have not given up their fight for control of their soulless version of the republican party, and are desperately trying to score a loss here. Trump is out and new conservatism is out and the old foggies know how to run this party. And the RINOs will tell you that if you just buy them a drink at their favorite watering hole.
