Budd now trails by barely 1% and and taking big chunks out of his deficit with each update.

Western NC (solid R outside pinko Asheville) is largely unreported yet, but the one possibly sour note is that Charlotte and the Triangle area are reporting slowly and clearly holding back Dem votes.

Probably in order to add whatever sauce they need once all R areas are counted — or maybe they’re just a little slow for no particular reason.

Yes. Budd has narrowed quickly. It will seesaw as Triangle and Charlotte hold up the train.

In NC, Budd will probably take the lead on the next SOS update. But the chess game is just beginning.
