President Trump made a big unforced error attacking DeSantis at his rally the other day.
Not just because he did so just before an election day on which the Republicans simply must destroy the Democrats–after all, Governor DeSantis doesn’t need Trump’s support to win. If Trump went into full attack mode it wouldn’t dent DeSantis’ reputation one little bit.
So Trump’s attack is electorally irrelevant (which in itself is an unforced error, as it shows Trump to be weaker than he wants to look against a political rival).
Trump’s attack was a mistake because he opened up an old wound that could be Trump’s Achilles’ Heel: his huge mistakes dealing with COVID. Mistakes that DeSantis saw early and rejected quickly. Unnoticed by many, he has attacked Kemp in Georgia as well, which is truly bizarre as his attacks would help Stacey Abrams, a particularly disliked figure among Republicans. Trump once quipped that Stacey Abrams would be a better governor than Kemp–something nobody outside the Left believes. Kemp, though, will not be hurt by Trump’s jibes either.
Both Kemp and DeSantis were more right on COVID when it mattered than Trump.

Amen. DeSantis is the stealth NeverTrump candidate, but it's way too early to call attention to it.

No amount of money or establish media (tv, print, web) is going to make Desantis we GOP nomination of Trump runs...if Trump does not run Virginia governor would beat still beat Desantis...only establishment types, TDS victims seem to like Desantis outside of Florida.
The takeaway is that Trump has not learned from his mistakes about covid and the mRNA jab. He looks bitter that the Governor got it right. It makes him appear to not be a team-player, but only on team Trump. It’s a bad look. I wish Trump would show a modicum of humility and learn from both his mistakes and others leadership wins, it would broaden his appeal and rally more support. America needs both DeSantis and Trump effectively defending the country from the leftists.
Yeah I couldn’t believe he did the nickname deal on Ron. That was stupid as hell because all he is doing is helping the worst President in US history win a second term. Trump needs to sit down with DeSantis and straighten sh&t out, we can’t have this. I absolutely support Trump over DeSantis for 2024, it HAS to happen to send a message to these domestic enemies, but if he starts in with the name calling he is only harming himself.
Trump is still butthurt that Florida did not kneel to lockdowns, masking, travel restrictions and whatever else the dems wanted. Trump was a Fauci puppet even after leaving office.
But w did get trumps mail in ballots… because voting in person is just too much like adulting.
