Biden is gaslighting Americans about his failed presidency

I don't much like trendy buzz words and clichés, but gaslighting is a useful concept, from the old movie Gaslight with Charles Boyer and Ingrid Bergman.

I particularly don't like words and phrases newly created when there is already a perfectly good one, but I don't know of any word that can be substituted for gaslighting. If you can, please let me know.

watch the movie... the husband tries to convince the wife she is crazy... one of the tactics is to keep turning the gas light off that she has turned on... thus the term... gas lighting. oops. spoilers.
