Former president Donald Trump boasted on Saturday that he’s polling way above “Ron DeSanctimonious” for the GOP 2024 presidential nomination, in an early taste of the rivalry that’s widely expected to develop after next week’s midterms.
Trump at 71, Ron DeSanctimonious at 10 percent, Mike Pence at 7 percent . . . Oh, Mike’s doing better than I thought,” Trump told a crowd of supporters at a rally in Latrobe, Pa., for Republican Senate and gubernatorial candidates Dr. Mehmet Oz and Doug Mastriano.
The fact that Trump assigned the governor of Florida a derogatory nickname is a telltale sign that he considers him a legitimate competitor for 2024, and that he is indeed gearing up to run. Governor Ron DeSantis has long been regarded a GOP rising star and strong contender for president, one who could potentially have the conservative-populist credibility to take on Trump in a primary.
While presiding over the Sunshine State, DeSantis has demonstrated a willingness to apply government power to achieve conservative policy goals — incorporating some of Trump’s confrontational approach. For example, he enacted a mask-mandate ban for K-12 public schools and a prohibition on teaching gender identity and sexual orientation to elementary-aged children. Both laws received widespread support among residents. The hope of some Republicans who favor DeSantis over Trump is that he can pursue a similar agenda without the political baggage of the former president.

That is exactly what we should not do. Evidence should be brought into the light & opinions exchanged and put to the test of facts. It is not a good look to be told to shut up & stop talking...party solidarity & statesmanship.

No one owns the MAGA movement. Trump will soon find that out if he doesn’t start acting like he’s ‘been there’.
I thought he stopped boasting about the vaccines after that time he got booed over it? Did he mention them in the rallies this week?
I love the guy, but Trump really needs to back off and lay low for the next two days ... after which he can go balls-to-the-wall for the next two years to continue to drive the Democrat/Communists totally insane.

Voted for Trump twice and would again. But if Trump is “always two steps ahead” he’d still be president.

Last night people were shooting from the hip. They will be sorry for that some day. It was based on ignorance and hero worship every bit as bad as they were accusing Trump of. It was like they ignored all the signs as we did for years when we only had RINOs to choose from. Good grief, the mewling was awful.
Face it, there is no other “nicer Trump” that is America First ready for 2024. The closest who isn’t afraid to speak his mind and buck the globalists and war mongers is Rand Paul.

Incorrect hearsay. The ad is a takeoff on Paul Harvey’s famous “So God Made a Farmer” speech to the Future Farmers of America in Kansas City, Mo., in 1978. The ad points out that DeSantis is a CREATION OF GOD, NOT GOD.

We need to end this completely unnecessary divisiveness in our ranks. We should be happy that we have many great Republicans whether they’re running for Governor in Florida or Arizona or our candidate in waiting as Trump is.

It pretty obvious Desantis would back stab Trump and run if he had the chance. Every day the distance between Trump and Desantis grows. THIS IS NOT TRUMP’S FAULT.

I don’t trust Ron DeSantis. He’s overly ambitious like Ted Cruz. The fact that DeSantis has amassed a huge war chest from billionaire donors means he’s already bought and paid for by the establishment. He would get to Washington and be totally controlled. The beauty of Donald Trump is he cannot be controlled. DeSantis needs to stick to being the Governor of FLA for awhile.
