Former President Donald Trump took a swipe at Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis at a rally on Saturday night referring to him as "Ron DeSanctimonious" in what could be a sign of growing tension between the two potential presidential candidates.

Ask Reagan it’s his commandment. I simply observed that Trump violated it and suddenly a bunch of supposed conservatives wet themselves because they can’t stand to hear any criticism of Trump. Well I have another criticism of Trump. He’s not good at personnel selection He picks disloyal jerks to fill his staff. Case in point William Barr and another Jared Kushner.
Who did you vote for in the primary 2016? Jeb or cruz?
I am done with Desantis. I say Trump/Lake in ‘24 and Lake/Desantis in ‘28. Ron is not ready.

Desanctimonious is a lawyer. Once a lawyer, always a lawyer. F lawyers.
Consider this for a moment:
Suppose DeSantis has decided to run, but only if Trump doesn't. If he announced it that way, he'd look like a beta in deferring to Trump. The media would hang it around his neck that he was the guy "afraid" to challenge Trump.
So why do it? If Trump announces he's in, DeSantis can then say "I always intended to finish out my term, and I'm not running. But if Trump says he's not running, the deSantis avoids all the criticism that he was too chicken to run against Trump because he'll never have said he wouldn't run against Trump.
Plus, by not a answering that question now, people who want him to run and are sending him money right now will keep doing so. By the time he does run for 2028, he'll have a very large war chest before even declaring.
In other words, it doesn't make any sense for DeSantis to make any announcement at all,.one way or the other, until after Trump makes his.
DeSantis has not said he’s not running - in response to what Tge media has said for a year and a half, that DeSantis is primary rival to Trump
So he is primary rival. Fair game for commentary.
When it comes to trump, then it’s going to be something rude that makes fun of him. Something that might not even be clever. Now he’s got everyone defending home like a co captain of a cheerleading squad who stole the captains boyfriend
Ron began getting some heavy duty attention.
That is good because he had great ideas and knowledge of how to use them.
But, the fact is, some people CANNOT HANDLE THE ATTENTION AND ADORATION that comes with their successes.
Donald Trump has been exposed to this kind of attention practically all his life...HE KNOW HOW TO HANDLE IT.
Ron is a baby here. He should stop trying to be really COOL.
