NBC’s medical drama series New Amsterdam mourned the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade in this week’s episode, using a maudlin montage set to an overwrought score to portray its characters’ devastation.
Tuesday’s episode, which the network timed to air just one week before the midterm elections, opened with a teary-eyed Dr. Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold) looking forlornly at his young daughter as he reads about the high court’s decision then drops his smartphone in despair.
The dialogue-free montage depicts cast members in various states of panic, anguish, and shock before culminating at New Amsterdam Hospital where everyone gathers around a TV to watch the news because clearly there is nothing else to do in a major metropolitan hospital.

Silliest, most melodramatic thing I’ve seen since my Junior High play. Truly ridiculous!!
Good news is after six years the show is ending.
Yep working through SOAP now… Benson is next.
SOAP is full on activist TV for it’s time, but even so I was entertaining and not beat you into submission….
What passes as entertainment today isn’t entertaining at all.
In the spirit of Ms. Kraus “I hear you “….
I preferred Hamsterdam on the Wire.
My wife tried watching the Law & Order reboot and they had an episode about the daughter of the Governor of Texas escaping to New York to get an abortion. Of course, since it’s Law & Order, every character got an opportunity to take shots at Texas, any conservative that insults their urban utopia, and the pro-life movement.
......Hell, even SOAP reruns, which were absolutely activist television, at least were entertaining in their delivery......
“SOAP” was literally demonic!!!! The entertaining nature of this program seduced large sections of the public into supporting “gay” causes!!!!
I turned off NA during the episode where the main Doc/Director takes down framed photographs of the hospital founders and historical figures — because they were white men.
Haven’t watch it since. Of course, from the beginning, it leaned heavily toward wokery.
It got worse. It turned out that an “activist” helped the girl come to New York to get the abortion. The prosecutors fell all over themselves praising the “activist” for her courage. And at the end of the episode, a crazed pro-lifer (is there any other kind on TV?) shot her on the courthouse steps. Even my liberal brother thought it was outrageous.
The 65 million babies killed since the 70’s were not available to comment.
Wow, I don’t know what to say. My wife has a much higher tolerance of propaganda on these shows than I do and she didn’t last more than 20 minutes.
As for me, I’ll stick to the early Ben Stone episodes, which are rarely on rerun these days and still not available to stream on Peacock.
No wonder prime time ratings suck
Programming, actors and politics
Such a recipe for failure
This show has been a leftist clap trap since day one. Even my wife who is slow on the uptake with Holliweirds overt agenda said enough two seasons ago. 95% of shows in general now has a gay angle, she bemoans it as much as I do. This is the last season for N.A., good riddance.
the Law & Order reboot
Hallmark used to be a good place for family viewing.
NO more.
They are terrible, we now watch GAF, Channel 326 on DirecTV.
Many of the Hallmark stars moved over to GAF. Some story lines are lame, but at least they don’t insult you with “forced social messages.”
95% of shows in general now has a gay angle
I already openly stated it was activist television… flat out, no argument, but it was entertaining… whether you agreed with the activism or not, you could laugh at the absurdity of the characters.
Current tv is all activism and no entertainment… just club, club, club trying to beat the audience into compliance
This group reminds me of the caste of the strange movie ‘Cloverfield’ where the humans are so contemptable you cheer for the flock of godzilla creatures wreaking havoc on Manhattan.
The leads in all the Jurassic Park movies had me almost always rooting for the pseudo-dinosaurs.
