I agree the story and the quote are confusing but it does say:

So Pelosi could not have both said he doesn’t know the person, and that it’s a friend.
It appears he was saying he didn’t know the guy, but the guy is telling him these things.
That also makes a lot more sense at 230am with a broken window and a guy in the house who was then struggling to hit Pelosi with a hammer.
Not likely a friend.
You’re scrambling to make this sound totally innocent and that Paul is the victim. Common sense informs us differently.

People say all kinds of crazy stuff when in drugs and alcohol.
