Maybe the RP is just repeating the musings of the perp whom would appear to be insane.
That’s what I think too. A lot of the conversation with the police dispatcher seems to have been from the bathroom, where Paul Pelosi had left his phone charging. Supposedly Depape was trying to tie him up and he asked to be able to go to the bathroom first, and that was the time at which he used th emergency call function to get to the police.
Personally, I think Depape was just an angry crazy person and whatever politics he had (being a “nudist activist!”) were motivated by being nuts. I read initially that several of his family members had cut off contact because of threatening phone calls from him.
But I think he probably had at least been in the house before, but not necessarily as a guest - possibly as an event photographer (which he did when he wasn’t making hemp jewelry!) or even an employee of some company performing a service, such as catering or cleaning.
It’s also certainly possible that Paul Pelosi, who has always struck me as a corrupt old coot, had been involved with some questionable people and Dupape was probably in those circles and thus knew about Pelosi and his house.
From what I can see, Paul Pelosi spent a lot of time by himself in one or another of the Pelosi mansions or estates, and he may well have had another life going on that involved some unsavory things - and people.
