Elon Musk finally completed his $44 billion Twitter takeover deal, firing the company’s CEO and financial chief and ending a lengthy tug-of-war with its board of directors just before a key deadline, according to a source close to the situation.
Musk took the struggling social network private late Thursday, ousting Chief Executive Parag Agrawal and Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal, according to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity. It wasn’t immediately clear who would replace them.
Musk also fired Vijaya Gadde, Twitter’s top legal and policy executive, and Sean Edgett, general counsel, according to the Wall Street Journal.

I hope musk hires based on merit only regardless of national origin.
Hours before completing the acquisition, Musk posted a message to advertisers assuring them that Twitter will not “become a free-for-all hellscape.” as some were trying to say it would be.
“He is quick to work on operational control too...locked out the Twit(ter) software engineers and brought in Tesla software people:”
Pretty cool when you have the $$$$$ AND people to truly change something.
Actions like that take some time to make happen. One thing that indicates that he’s moving quickly is that he already has some of his trusted Tesla software engineers sent in to meet with Twitter project leaders to start poring over the software code and getting a good handle on all their technical operations and databases/backups. That’s a much higher priority to rush on getting done before anyone can try to sabotage the data, code, and operations. I can’t imagine that any of those folks who have been banned for 21 months will be bothered by needing to wait an extra month because Musk is securing the integrity of the data history, technical operations, and software code at Twitter.
What should be scaring the bad actors is the data at Twitter as I’m confident it’s full of all sorts of terribly incriminating information of bad actions by the former Twitter leadership & their underlings.
What was their process for censorship, banning, manipulations, and other bias-oriented actions?
What lies did they tell in their SEC filings? Prison time could be on the way for some, depending on what the data shows.
So, yeah there are some who may think that Priority #1 on Day #1 was to reverse the bans on Twitter. But, I personally believe Musk should have some higher immediate priorities. For starts, he ought to make sure the folks who were most responsible for the leading the bad actions at Twitter are out of the way as he takes over. Hmmmmmm, coincidentally, he immediately fired the CEO, CFO, chief censor, chief counsel, and possibly some others.
And besides if he went to the desk of some operators who have the power to reverse the bans to get the bans reversed then they could always have some supervisor come in after Musk leaves the cubicle to reverse the reverse. So, this idea that he should start immediately on reversing the bans would likely accomplish nothing. He needs to first make sure that some rogue censorship-happy supervisor wouldn’t dare be able to get away with doing such a thing.
Hey, it’s day one... relax.
I wonder if that’s coming…
Dear Twitter Advertisers
Wouldn’t it be fun to be Elon? I can think of a thousand things to do over there to bring Twitter up to snuff.
My cat has an account @catsoftwitter, and she carefully avoids politics there.
Very soon she’s going to become “Politicat.”
Yes, Virginia, Vajaja really does work at Twitter. Or did. LOL
