Incumbent Florida governor Ron DeSantis met his Democrat challenger Charlie Crist for their single scheduled debate ahead of November’s elections. While the media is pretending Crist performed ably, by any honest reckoning DeSantis not only showed up to do what he had to, he mopped the floor with his disgusting, cheap-shot opponent.
On issue after issue, DeSantis resonated with the voting masses. In one such exchange, here here is he rebutting Crist’s position on so-called gender-affirming minor for surgeries:

If you’re a 15 year old, you can’t get a tattoo in the state of Florida. Yet we’re saying you can get a double mastectomy? Of course not, it is inappropriate for to do this for minors and in Florida we’re not going to allow them to happen.
And in this powerfully-moving clip, DeSantis tells the story of a woman some forty years ago who got pregnant, was advised to get an abortion, yet for one reason or another did not go through with it, and against all odds eventually gave birth to a daughter. Stay for the second half:
VIDEO AT LINK.......................
[A] few months ago, I appointed her daughter to be the first Jamaican American justice in the history of the Florida supreme court.
I just think we’re better when everybody counts. I understand not everyone’s going to be born in perfect circumstances, but I would like to see everybody have a shot.
I’m proud of the fifteen weeks that we did. I know Charlie Crist opposes that, even though the baby is fully formed, has a heartbeat, can feel pain, and can suck their thumb.
He also supports sex-selective abortions, whuich is used to discriminate against little girls. He also supports dismemberment abortions, where they will literally tear the baby from limb to limb.
And he also supports taxpayer-funded aboprtion all the way up to the moment of birth, and that is plain wrong.
Boom. And these were just a few soundbites. DeSantis did this for hours with Crist, who offered nothing other than lies and a cheap shots at the possibility DeSantis might run for president in 2024.
Indeed, the lying media and slimy Crist didn’t have many angles to attack DeSantis, so the man who has literally been in three different parties over the course of his career kept returning to one question: Will you serve your full term? It’s a way of asking DeSantis if he’s running for president or not, as well as giving Floridians an idea that the person they vote for won’t commit to them.
Watching clips online or reading the headlines of the press, it’d be easy to think DeSantis got caught off guard. For starters, does that seem likely? DeSantis isn’t a rookie, and his team would certainly have prepared him for that question. Second, a little more digging reveals what was really going on. The Hill finally got around to reporting the true context of those viral exchanges:
DeSantis repeatedly refused to answer those questions, instead pivoting to the Biden administration and Crist’s record in Congress.
Of course, the candidates weren’t permitted to ask each other questions. Still, DeSantis’s silence on the matter is likely to raise further questions about his future political ambitions.

While DeSantis was vintage good, anyone who thought Crist was going to do anything better than just show up hasn’t been paying attention, for decades.
Crist is a cipher.

Hopefully he doesn't run for Prez until 2028.

At one point crist accused Governor DeSantis of being “anti-business”.....a statement so ludicrous the live debate audience began laughing at him.
This guy is in for the beat down of a lifetime.

DeSantis won’t run against Trump.
However, Trump will be 78 in 2024. If Trump decides not to run because of health reasons then DeSantis will want to make sure he is available.
Or DeSantis is angling for the VP job. Trump is term limited so DeSantis would be the front runner in 2028.

I’m sure that the Democrats are convinced that they destroyed DeSantis
To: sloanrb
One of them would have to leave Florida for the VP slot.

Not a problem.
Dick Cheney changed his voter registration a few days before being selected as George W Bush’s VP. A lawsuit challenging that was thrown out. Expect Trump or DeSantis to do a quick move somewhere if that happens.
By the way, this also explains how Liz Cheney was elected in Wyoming.

Well not DeSantis - he can’t be governor and move.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the lying liar who lies, Charlie Crist, held their one and only debate last night. Of all the gubernatorial debates so far, this one was probably the best. Thankfully, DeSantis won the debate on substance because Crist just sucks. However, DeSantis flubbed the most predictable question that was asked.
Every Floridian should vote for DeSantis, because Crist is just an unbearable alternative. That said, the insufferable Charlie Crist asked Governor DeSantis to commit to a four-year term in office and promise the Florida voters he would not abandon his state to run for the GOP nomination in 2024; effectively making DeSantis only a six-month reelected governor because national campaigning will start in June 2023.
It is true, the question should have come from the moderator, because it’s a transparently obvious and predictable question. However, regardless of who actually asked it, the non-response from Governor DeSantis was telling.
WATCH (just first minute):
A few things about that non-response are remarkable.
First, even a middle school debate coach would have known that question was likely in the debate. The fact that DeSantis did not have a well-rehearsed and prepared canned answer to the question is a reflection of stunningly poor debate prep.
Second, the evasive and non-truthful answer he did give, totally avoiding the question, shows the incredible weakness within a candidate that is a specific outcome of a lack of honesty. That response is also reflective of why Donald Trump wins every debate. Trump wields truth as an effective weapon.

HONESTY – Ron DeSantis could have said,
“Charlie, because of my successful leadership in the state of Florida, there are a lot of people who want me to run for the GOP nomination in 2024. There are also a lot of people offering money as an incentive for me to make that decision because the current state of our nation under Joe Biden is in such a mess. Whether I will or not is an open question that voters should consider; but I can assure everyone my work on behalf of Florida -a state I love- will never change.”
That type of an answer would be honest and respected. Florida voters deserve to know where Governor DeSantis stands on a 2024 presidential campaign. After all, it will consume most of the focus and time of the governor for 18 months before November 2024.
That type of an answer should also have been canned in a response awaiting the question. The absence of that type of an honest answer tells us something about the campaign authenticity aspect to Ron DeSantis.
The truth has no agenda, while the absence of truth always does.
This authenticity aspect is why Donald Trump won every one of the dozen debates in 2015 and 2016. He just speaks the truth regardless of comfort, expectation or disposition.
Q: “You have called women fat pigs etc.?” – A: “Only Rosie O’Donnell”…
Q: “You called Mexicans rapists etc.?” – A: “Well, someone’s doing the raping”…
Q: “You only support people who like you?” – A: “It’s true. I only like the people who like me”…
Q: “You have been talking to Kim Jong-un?” – A: “True. Shouldn’t we talk to everyone and try to avoid conflict? We also got along great”…
There’s no pretense in Trump’s responses. There is an authenticity in the humanness of the honesty. Trump wins debates because he answers the questions honestly as he sees them. He’s not uncomfortable being honest about his intent, reasons or even his own self-image.
Ron DeSantis on the other hand avoids his own discomfort in answering a question that should have been easily predicted. There is something very unnerving about it.
Every Floridian should vote for Ron DeSantis, granting him the benefit of the doubt that he will be around as governor for the next four years. However, if/when DeSantis wins reelection, he would destroy his own career by announcing a 2024 run six months later.
Here’s a video of the full debate:

I saw one clip on TV where Crist was trying to blame DeSantis for “NOT using science to stop the hurricane when it was forming “.
IS he that brain dead???
Who has scientifically stated that we can STOP HURRICANES when they are forming?

That’s an insult to George Hamilton.
