iesel stockpiles in the U.S. are reportedly at their lowest point since 2008, with only enough fuel for a 25-day supply, according to a recent report from Bloomberg. Demand is also said to be at its highest point since 2007, creating a dangerous supply/demand combination that's causing spikes in pricing. The Biden administration called the nationwide diesel supply "unacceptably low" and is looking at all options to build up the national supply to help reduce prices.
According to U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the average price of diesel is at $5.34 per gallon. That's an increase of $1.67 per gallon, compared to this time last year. The area getting hit the hardest is New England, where people burn diesel fuel for heat more than anywhere else in the country. There, stockpiles of diesel fuel are a third of what they normally are at this time of the year. However, the highest cost of diesel fuel is in California, where the average cost is almost $6.50 per gallon, an increase of almost $2.00 per gallon over this time last year.

Something is up with him - the destruction this country by Leftists
Annenberg Foundation, for example
Aren’t they a big Leftist PBS funder?
Your response is so spot on!
Mainly a refinery problem. We need more refineries, but the Environazis have prevented new ones from being built.
Joe is bribed by Mexican cartels and promoting the import of deadly fentanyl

If we starve and freeze to death this winter it is of little importance. (To 'Them')
And remember that you are PARANOID and a lunatic if you
think that this is all being PLANNED in order to collapse
the US economy, destroy our way of life, make us dependent
on the almighty 'Government Deity' and usher us all (who are left alive)
into a new 'Glorious' communist NWO America.
Only total LOONS think like that!
Right?

By the way - Happy Monday!
Slow Joe should be arrested and tried for sabotaging the U.S.
As titular head of the government, he is responsible for depleting our energy sector, and supporting storage.
He is also responsible for lack of military response to the invasion by enemy combatants, across our southern border.
These are treasonous acts against the United States, and should be prosecuted immediately.
I’m still not selling Little Brown, my ‘06 F350. I’m just gonna have to drive him a little less.
.
Agreed.
What are the chances of that happening?
(I do NOT wish to be 'negative' here.)
So how about instead we start a betting pool on the exact
date when Joe will be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize?
.
DANG!!! There I go being sarcastically negative again.
Maybe a doctor can help me?
Nah - Probably not...
Ultimately the people who go along with these schemes are the problem because they enable government to get them established. The climate scam is a good example. It's not enough that the willing dupes believe when they're told it's the hottest summer on record locally as they're living through lower temps than the summer before. They go the extra to pay for their carbon usage.
There's a guy on my team at work who went on a two week vacation and proudly posted in our team Slack channel how he offset his trip on a site called clear.eco where you can put in your flight details and choose your level of offset for them to soak you. The best part is they soak you more for flying first class over economy. (Apparently being sardined in your seats makes you use less carbon. It's scientific, you know.) Once you tell scammers that you not only go along with their scam, but want to pay extra for their scam, it's full speed ahead.
this biden fella on top of it tho. not
All of the cheerleaders for Ukraine posting on this FR site need to suit up, grab a rifle and rush into the teeth of Russian artillery salvos. Throw YOUR life away for a corrupt country with no strategic value to Americans.
However,it seems possible that homes (home heating oil),trucks and other large vehicles will be given priority if there's a serious shortage so I just might be doing a lot a walking this winter.
I fully appreciate your view and response. I suspect that as more and more productive people see the effects on their wallets, they will rebel. One sees this so oddly in China as in Japan, wherein the young adults who see no real possibility for advancement "lie down." That is, stop trying except to do the bare minimum. One sees it additionally as "walk away" movements are occurring, and as various kinds of "awakening" happen. Odd perhaps, but I am an optimist that the sort of whom you write will in time figure things out. Best wishes.

How many days of supply do we have normally?

Good question and I was wondering the same thing. Go about halfway down this Bloomberg page and you will find a graph entitled “US Diesel Supply Crunch Worst since 2008”. The graph shows the trend line of the number of days of diesel supply from 2008 to the present time. If I can summarize the trend line over that period in a sentence or two (based on a quick visual review), the peak number of days is 55 and the average looks to be a bit over 35 days.
Perhaps the most concerning part of the trend line is just how fast the latest drop has occurred... it looks like it dropped from say 34 days to 25 days in a very short timeframe i.e. as in dropping off the table. This drop appears to be over a 2 month period and it is still dropping at the same rate (although the graph might just appear that way because of how the data for the graph was put together without enough data points to fill in the most recent timeframe).
https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/How-The-Diesel-Crisis-Became-An-Inflationary-Time-Bomb.html Here is a better link with a lot more meaningful data that includes this statement... “In short, record low supply (courtesy of stifling regulations that have led to a historic shortage of refining capacity) meet record high demand. What comes next is, well, ugly (while weekly demand dipped slightly in the latest week, it’s still at highest point in two years amid higher trucking, farming and heating use).”
