DeSantis endorses O'Dea in Colorado Senate race, bucking Trump
DC Examiner ^ | 10/23/2022 | David Drucker

Posted on 10/23/2022 2:25:57 PM PDT by Alter Kaker

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is recording a robocall for underdog Senate contender Joe O’Dea, a boost for the Colorado Republican after former President Donald Trump urged grassroots conservatives to abandon his campaign.

“Hello this is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. America needs strong leadership and desperately. That’s why I’m endorsing Joe O’Dea for U.S. Senate. Colorado, please vote for Joe O’Dea,” DeSantis says in the robocall, a recording of which was provided to the Washington Examiner on Sunday by the O’Dea campaign. “I’ve watched Joe from a distance. And I’m impressed.”

In endorsing O’Dea, DeSantis is charting a course separate from Trump in the midterm elections and stoking speculation the two Republican heavyweights are on a collision course in the upcoming 2024 GOP presidential primary. Just days earlier, the former president lashed out at O’Dea, calling him a “RINO,” which stands for “Republican in Name Only,” and criticizing him for speaking openly about their disagreements.

Running in a blue state that rarely elects Republicans statewide and trailing Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) in public opinion polls despite a favorable political environment, O’Dea’s strategy of distancing himself from Trump and taking centrist positions on certain issues is sensible. Bennet led O’Dea 49.5% to 42% in the RealClearPolitics average and has topped his Republican challenger in all six of the most recent surveys.

The point is that he’s only made 2 endorsements and one of them is the worst senate candidate this cycle.

You should remember this is a fake news article. Trump didn’t complain about DeSantis doing this. We are making the argument from the stand point being right and that DeSantis did this explicitly to show up Trump which is more than likely fake. If it’s real the criticisms about this being the type of Repuke really wants are valid but like I say. This is fake news and not a real fight.

A gop senate is the stopgap to crazy Biden appointments.

Yes. Not sure O'Dea in CO is the path.

wait wait wait. Trump himself is a lot softer on the rainbow mafia than many other republicans to the point where the US continued its campaign of bullying other countries about this topic under his watch. And the same people who turned a blind eye to this are giving DeSantis the third degree for choosing pragmatism over complete purity?

It isn't being pragmatic to turn a blind eye to election fraud.

I would suggest you find somebody who is looking for complete purity instead of pragmatism and post to them.

That's flat-out BS.

He's campaigned on behalf of multiple Trump-endorsed candidates across the country.

He has said that. The governor will be a force in US politics long after the former president is gone.

May the best man win, and to the extent that endorsements are key, may be best endorsement be decisive. I don’t GAFF.

if the Democrats gain control of the Senate through purist conservatives sitting out this election we will all suffer the consequences.

I don’t live in CO, so it doesn’t matter what I think.

I do have to vote for Oz or write-in.
Millions live in PA, and we get a cave troll against a Turk snake oil salesman.

Oz is at least highly intelligent, which is what bothers me most about his tv show BS.

Stop your pearl clutching - nobody thinks Trump is a god king - but he is the de facto leader of the Right.

O’Dea is a complete a-hole for crossing Trump and DeSantis should have stayed out of it.

i already DIDN’T vote for O’Dea (did a write in instead) ... O’Dea is a RINO’s RINO, and has persistently attacked Trump, and has zero chance of being elected: the Democrats automatically all hate him, and he’s gone out of his way to antagonize and alienate Colorado conservatives ...

in the extremely unlike event that o’dea is elected, he’s guaranteed to be another murkowski/romney ...

DeSantis stands for plenty. The same as Trump stands for; i.e., good government that actually helps people. If they want to do some internecine squabbling, that’s fine. If they endorse the wrong people at times, also fine. So long as they do their actual jobs well.

The Democrats already gained control of the Senate because of election fraud. And the consequences of that are already being felt. If RINOs like O'Dea continue to sit out our fight against election fraud we will continue to suffer the consequences.
