CHARLOTTE, N.C. — House Majority Whip James Clyburn (S.C.), the third-ranking member of the House Democratic leadership, says he’s not commenting on whether President Biden should run for reelection until he sees the results of the Nov. 8 midterm elections.
“I have no idea. Until this election is over, I’m not going to focus on ’24,” Clyburn said at a campaign event in Charlotte for Democratic Senate candidate Cheri Beasley.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) have also sidestepped questions about whether Biden should run for a second term.
“I’m not going into politics about whether the president should run or not,” Pelosi told CNN last month.
Schumer has only said he will support Biden if he chooses to launch a reelection.
Clyburn’s silence on the prospect of Biden running for a second term is notable because the South Carolina lawmaker’s endorsement in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary was seen as critical to Biden winning South Carolina with more than 48 percent of the vote.
Biden’s decisive primary victory over Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) helped him wrap up the nomination.

Just makes him a little smarter or better handled than a lot of rhinos.
Clyburn and all democrats don’t want Biden to run again.
They all know that Biden could not win if he ran again.
But, they can’t make it official until after the midterm elections are over. Then, they’ll be saying it out loud that Biden is not wanted as their nominee and they’ll start the search for their next nominee.
FJB will be 80 years old next month. Clyburn is 82. Age and competence are irrelevant if you’ve got the right Handlers on your Team.
In my opinion, Clyburn is first and foremost a racist. He’s head of the Black Caucus.
IIRC, Clyburn threw South Carolina to Biden after extracting a promise that Biden would select a black running mate. Clyburn is IMHO a black tribalist. He’d love nothing better than a black President to give his tribe every advantage. It’s not just a matter of squeezing a percent or two of votes out of the dependable Black vote. He wants the whole enchilada.

Clyburn bailed out Biden in the Democrat Primaries.
Biden was dead in the water until South Carolina, where Clyburn rigged it for Biden.
Shortly after this event a bunch of Democrat candidates got payoffs to leave the race.
I don’t like Clyburn, but he is one of the ‘shot callers’ on the Biden Presidency.
