I often wondered why someone in one position, SecState of Arizona, is allowed to run for another position, Governor, while maintaining their job. Especially in Hobbs’ case. She can’t seem to walk and chew gum at the same time.
But how can one devote X amount of time, campaigning, etc, while still doing the job they were hired to do.
Same exact thing for the US Senators/Reps that want to run for another office. If all they’re doing is campaigning, they aren’t doing their jobs.
Politics is such BS.
Yep!

It’s simple really. The elected officials have become quasi figureheads. (We allowed it, we can take it away)
Staff knows this. Swamp.
Think that situation would improve if we enacted term limits on the elected officials? Or would term limits on staff be more efficient? Elections are a form of term limits right now, is it not?
You cannot be more conflicted then being SOS while you are running for Governor. Remember. Rats. Never. Recuse.
I would take it a step further and say no campaigning while holding any office.
Not only that but SecState specifically is in charge of elections, so its a conflict if interest.
