In addition to having the highest overall residential vacancy rate, San Francisco also has the highest share of units that are vacant for seasonal, recreational or occasional use — more than 10,000 homes – such as vacation homes.

So they are counting how much people use their houses. None of their F’n business.

My sister-in-law died from ODing on oxycodone over prescribed to her by a doctor well known for getting people addicted to the stuff.

She did have other contributing health issues that no doubt played a role, but yup, drs who over prescribe the stuff for people who don’t need it should be treated like every other drug dealer.

When I lived in San Francisco, the house next to us was empty all 14 years we lived there. The house 2 doors down was empty the first 3 years we were there.
Equity goes up about $5000 a month almost better to not have a renter.

They are not homes, they are houses or dwelling units. If they are empty, it is because the owners want them empty or the government has created conditions which make living there undesirable. People without money don’t buy or rent houses.

......this is a tired ole refrain from communists world wide dating back at least to the Stalin era.

Nothing new here. What we see happening in San Francisco is PURE unvarnished communism. To a true COMMIE, like the ones infesting SFO, there is no such thing as individual “property rights” or individual “property ownership”.

And now, we have at least one communist on the Supreme Court. Thanks to Biden.

And a $10,000 increase in value or net worth.

"In the past year there have been over 107,000 overdose fatalities in this country and the synthetic drug fentanyl is responsible for over 70% of those deadly overdoses. It is the leading cause of death for people 18-45-years-old. CBS News is reporting that the leading cause of death in this age group isn’t Covid (and it never has been)."

My question might be:

Is this such a BAD thing? We are not losing work on Cold Fusion, an FTL drive, a cure for cancer. The Drug War has served only to provide import price supports for the Cartels, and bass boats and retirement condos for various branches of LE.

It seems to be a self correcting problem.

Legalization would result in the DEA and Coasties taking a big hit, however...

Wonder how many of the poor homeless are that way because they’ve burned every bridge with every family member and friend that they could possibly sponge off of.

It is obvious their new “plan” is to order property owners to house the homeless without rent or payment.

Wait and see.

People aren’t homeless because of an unavailability of housing. They’re homeless because their cranial matter is burned to a crisp from drug usage.

“Meanwhile, 7,754 people can’t afford rent. ”

The response to this would be akin to Sam Kenison’s bit about starving Ethiopians and where they choose to live.

And so.. suppose a building owner rents to one of these vagrants, who immediately refuses to pay the rent… no damned way he can be evicted.. what then?

“It seems to be a self correcting problem.”

Like so many other self correcting problems: The brainless liberals keep inflicting themselves with: like sex changing operations, abortions, defunding their police, worthless college studies with Instant Unemployment Degrees, CRT and BLM studies, plus unchecked and in fact enabling drug abuse for the liberal masses.

This is what the democrat party wants to do. Already they are trying to destroy the suburbs and bring in high density apartments and banning parking spaces.
