The NHL is actually very diverse if you consider all the different countries players come from. USA, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Chech Republic, Russia,...... But I guess they all look the same. Plus, the NHL has been pushing introducing hockey to black communities for a long time. If the kid is good enough, he should be able to make it. But please no affirmative action players.

Just to give y'all an idea of how thin the talent level in ice hockey outside predominantly white countries, I've posted the 2021 International Ice Hockey Federal national rankings below. South Korea, at #19, is the highest-ranked Asian country.

And just to illustrate how lackluster this #19 ranking is, I posted the most recent year when each country won an Olympic medal in ice hockey.
