Drivers are rejoicing as a cherry picker has arrived to pluck down two Just Stop Oil protesters suspended from the Dartford Bridge - as the crossing is set to finally reopen after 36 hours.

Essex Police has confirmed a 'specialised raised platform' has arrived on the bridge to allow experts to begin working at height to persuade the two eco-zealots to come down.

The two protesters, one of whom filmed himself singing a redemption song today`, will be arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit public nuisance when they are eventually pulled down from the lofty height.

Police have said they are currently 'considering all options' to bring the protesters down safely, with emergency services facing a 'considerable challenge'.

Chief Superintendent Simon Anslow said: 'We are working as quickly and as safely as possible to resolve this situation. The two people who remain at height on the bridge have put themselves in considerable danger and as a result, we and our emergency services face a considerable challenge.

'Our priority is to keep our county moving but we also have a duty of care to the two people, as well as those who may be involved in any resolution at height.'

He added: 'This specialist equipment will allow specially trained officers to work at great height which gives us an advantage in resolving this situation.

'I know this situation is incredibly frustrating, but we are doing everything possible to resolve this situation as quickly and as safely as possible.

'To be clear, we are not in any way anti-protest. The right to protest is enshrined in law and we will always seek to facilitate safe protest where we can.

'However, it is unacceptable for people to think they can put lives in danger and selfishly stop others going about their lives

“I was in London last week - caught several days of their morning shows. The concern over energy costs and shortages is front of mind there. They are very pessimistic about the next year. The government is trying to craft some sort of energy subsidy payment so the poor and lower middleclass can keep the heat on. It’s going to be ugly.”

Tell me about it! I read the UK Daily Mail online every day. They also have a pensions crisis. Electricity 2x-3x higher than last year.

English are stoics. They’ll tough it out through winter. Then have national celebrations of the King Charles coronation in May, to add some cheer. Tourists will flock in for this, adding to the economy.

The current laws do not allow the police to remove the stop oil idiots fast enough. When they are blockading traffic, which is their main tactic. The police must first notify the local councils and other nonsense.

What is wrong with the British Parliament, that they cannot expedite passing new laws? That will allow the UK police to remove these protesters immediately. I am blaming a dysfunctional Parliament, that doesn’t give a shit when working men and others must sit in traffic for hours. When ambulances, fire trucks, police, etc are are obstructed.

I well am aware of her. But your laws for blocking streets and highways need revision. Last year! All your cops need to do is to go in. Even by helicopter if feasible. Drag these idiots off to the side. Handcuff them to lamp posts and trees, to await transport out to jails and judges. No bail granted!

As the link I posted explains, The Public Order Bill returning to Parliament next week does just that, and more.
