I thought Chicago had "gun control." Guess not.

Won’t be doing any two-hand-stance shooting for a while.

According to the Chicago Ssun Times, it was a neighbors gun

Sounds like BS. The first I do when I clean a firearm is to make sure it is not loaded - mag out, chamber cleared, or with a revolver, all rounds removed from the cylinder.

Got to “luv” shy-ka-go. I live only 20 miles from there. Yes...it is sad.

This. Is. Not. Possible.
“Chicago alderman stupidly shoots himself after failing to follow the basic rules of firearms handling” is the correct headline, but that wouldn’t allow the writer to suggest that guns are so evil that they just randomly shoot people all by themselves.

They are bored with shooting other black people so they are now shooting themselves?

Aren’t you supposed to check if it is loaded and then not point it at yourself or anyone? If you weren’t going to clean your own gun, why would you pick an alderman to do it.

Exactly. All weapons from pistols with round cylinders with one round each to magazine type pistols and rifles should be
totally unloaded before being cleaned. I have never seen anyone clean a loaded weapon.

I wonder what the penalty is for firing a weapon which you don’t own (neighbor’s) in the city limits?
What is the penalty for loaning a firearm to someone (the alderman, who is NOT a gunsmith)?
Oh, right: Entitled class.

I thought you open the action and check the chamber before you take out the ramrod and cleaning fluid. My mistake. Chicago aldermen know best./s

Maybe he was going to clean the gun but it sounds more like he was playing with the gun.

It was not an accident. A trigger pas pulled. That takes a conscious effort. An accident is when one picks up a pound of unsalted butter instead of salted butter. Or when one gets 1 per cent milk instead if 2 per cent milk . Or vice versa. Or calls their spouse an old flame's name during the throes of passion. The firing of a gun requires conscious decisions which lead to deliberate actions.
