This has been super complicated in Israel.
Pretty much everyone supports the Ukraine BUT Russian immigrants (followed by the Ukraine) make up an easy plurality of newish Israelis. So almost every family has at least a cousin in Russia. Lots of families have relatives in both countries.
So we’ve been loathe to supply anything that might hurt someone’s family member.
That said, Russia is increasingly bombastic and threatening to Israel, which may piss people off enough to do something. The Mossad, in particular, has assets all over Russia and could really grind things to a halt.
Russia has removed some or all of its air defense systems from Syria. This probably plays into Israel’s decision to send aid to Ukraine. Russia’s presence around the entire world is seriously reduced as they used the Wagner group all around South America and Africa. The entire world will be safer for decades to come.
I get that, and I have been grateful that the post Soviet relations, cooperation and trust between Israel and Russia have grown to the good so much.
I'm not much impressed by the Liberals in Israel, as opposed to Netanyahu who will act in Israel's interest.
