Risking Nuclear War for What?

State Department ‘Human Rights Report’ reveals what our government really thought of pre-war Ukraine.

The Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (a branch within the US State Department) releases annual ‘Human Rights Reports’ on 194 different countries around the globe. Their 2021 report for Ukraine was released in April of this year. Despite its relevance to whether US intervention in the RU-UA war is merited, the report received zero media coverage.

The report highlights “serious abuses” in the Donbas region citing multiple sources: “International organizations and NGOs, including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the HRMMU, issued periodic reports documenting abuses committed in the Donbas region on both sides of the line of contact.”

Here are major examples of ‘significant human rights issues’ listed by the bureau:

unlawful or arbitrary killings, including extrajudicial killings by the government or its agents torture and cases of cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment of detainees by law enforcement personnel harsh and life-threatening prison conditions arbitrary arrest or detention serious problems with the independence of the judiciary serious restrictions on free expression and media, including violence or threats of violence against journalists, unjustified arrests or prosecutions of journalists, and censorship serious restrictions on internet freedom refoulement of refugees to a country where they would face a threat to their life or freedom serious acts of government corruption lack of investigation of and accountability for gender-based violence crimes, violence, or threats of violence motivated by anti-Semitism crimes involving violence or threats of violence targeting persons with disabilities, members of ethnic minority groups, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or intersex persons the existence of the worst forms of child labor……

BobL, you destroyed your credibility with me some time ago.

I don’t respect you, trust you, or value your opinion. You
can think whatever you like about me.

I won’t bother to give you links. If you want to look it
up, you have the same resources at your disposal that I do.

You are part of the team who said any reports about Russian
losses were just propaganda. Your team also claime it was
propagada every time it was reported that Russia suffered
losses of land they had captured. You guys stated Russia
invaded to address NAZIs. You state that Russia was
terrified of the idea of the Ukraine joining NATO because it
was on Russia’s border, but then clammed up when we pointed
out that Estonia and Latvia are members of NATO, on Russia’s border and adjacent to St. Petersburg.

None of these ‘reasons’ were true. What Russia did was
capture all the land that allows access to the AZOV
natural gas preserves.

The other things, didn’t matter at all.

I and a lot of other people are tired of your anti-American
pro Russian bull stuff.

Sport, what effect do you think Putin’s invasion of the
Ukraine had on Biden and company’s money laundering?

I believe Biden and company very well could be doing
what you think they are.

Please tell me if you think it’s more likely that the
money-laundering dropped by 80.00%, or rose by 800.00%
after Putin’s invasion.

My take on it is that the lid was blown clear off the
bad money floating around in the Ukraine, once the chaos
of war settled in.

If that is the case, then what is the fastest way to
draw down the money laundering?

It’s clear that what drove it up exponentially, would
drive it down if it ended.

Russia needs to pull back to its own border, and stop
this nonsense.

Pretty sure that you can’t show/don’t know the “international borders” of Ukraine from the last 100 years or so (not to mention it’s historical “borders”).

Pretty sure you know Russia agreed to the borders as they
were and told the Ukraine they would respect them, when
they signed an agreement stating just that.

‘k, so, why did you state that they were the borders until 2014?

You define Ukraine’s “international borders” by what standard ?

I defend them by the same standard Russia used
when it recognized its common border with the
Ukraine, and signed an agreement to honor them.

Ask Vlad.

"The only risk of nuclear war is appeasement of nuclear-armed aggressors."

Do you have any concept of how stupid that is?

It is very clear that you have no reasonable definition of the “international borders” of Ukraine
upon which you base your calls for Russia to desist.

You also totally conveniently ignore the poking, prodding and antagonizing of Russia by the US, West and NATO since 2014.
Why is that ?

Look, Russian leadership met with the Ukrainian leadership
and they both agreed to the borders of the Ukraine and Russia.

Why should I try to rethink what they both agreed to?

I would think those two parties would know a lot better
than me at the time of the signing, and that probably
covers you as well.

Yeah, that pretty much defines “international borders”, right ?
I see you also loudly ignore my second point.
Have you no answer?

I belief that second post refers to the proper border.

If not, mention what you’d like me to address.

Russia and the Ukraine seem to have figured out what they
could agree to about the border, so I’m not going to second
guess them.

You’re welcome to accuse me of playing some kind of ‘game’ by calling out YOUR statements that YOU cannot back up. But I’ll keep doing it...just as people attempt to call me out too.

“Yeah, and it doesn’t bother me one bit that you will. Folks know you for who you are.”

That’s fine, and people here will decide whether the person calling you out is the problem, or the person who cannon back up his own statements is the problem.
