Fire Destroys 70+ Vehicles Today
KXXV Channel 25 news (ABC) ^ | 15/10/2022 | Trenton Hooker

Crews have extinguished a fire that destroyed more than 70 vehicles outside Temple at a popular family attraction.

"It looked like something out of a war zone," said John Bessick, a veteran who came to the pumpkin patch earlier and helped evacuate families. "Since I have PTSD, it's kind nerve-racking." Bessick said he and a friend were in their vehicle about to leave when they first noticed the fire — then vehicles started to explode.

"We had a few babies and a few strollers trying to get out," Bessick said as he and his friend helped evacuate people trying to leave the exit on Bob White Road.

A Bell County spokesperson said in a shared statement at least 73 vehicles were destroyed in the fire.

Though, the cause of the fire remains under investigation, initial reports "indicate the fire possibly started from an inappropriately discarded cigarette in the parking area," the statement said.

Thanks.

It’s not just you either by any stretch of the imagination.

It’s just very frustrating to read something interesting and try to figure out where it is, or if it’s even in this country.

“Raw video from near the pumpkin patch at the farm”

Pretty dumb having an EV charging station on a farm.

Clinking on the link, the logo at the top says it’s a news station covering central Texas.

A little research shows it was apparently near Temple, Texas, but this is a common problem with so many news stories these days. They often must assume everybody knows where a place is if they even give the name of a town. One of the first rules of a news story(or so I thought) was to give the “where” of the story. So simple, yet so often overlooked in news articles. What’s the problem?

Doubt if many of those were EVs, but it would only take one to stsart a large fire. There’s another thing to look at here, too....how many of those vehicles are uninsured for this? Then again, how many owners will collect MORE than they ever paid for the vehicles because of inflation or “classic” or “collector” value of some vehicles?

electric vehicle fire?

Of course, since that's the only type of vehicle that burns.

Grass parking lot and severe drought conditions. What could go wrong? Oh . . . And maybe an EV.

‘hot catalytic converter’

That caused a fire near me earlier this year. Almost burned down an amazon warehouse.

Hack the self driving feature and an EV becomes an AI drone.

On I37 north of Corpus Christi this summer the fire departments (volunteer) were constantly putting out fires from idiots throwing out cigarettes. I think it should be a felony with serious jail time for throwing out a cigarette butt. And a reward for reporting the act (everyone would have dash cameras)

How do you ignite an EV? Do they have a “start fire” button near the charging port?

Easily weaponized

How does one trigger a fire on demand? Do they have a "short battery" button?
