Fire Destroys 70+ Vehicles Today
KXXV Channel 25 news (ABC) ^ | 15/10/2022 | Trenton Hooker

Crews have extinguished a fire that destroyed more than 70 vehicles outside Temple at a popular family attraction.

"It looked like something out of a war zone," said John Bessick, a veteran who came to the pumpkin patch earlier and helped evacuate families. "Since I have PTSD, it's kind nerve-racking." Bessick said he and a friend were in their vehicle about to leave when they first noticed the fire — then vehicles started to explode.

"We had a few babies and a few strollers trying to get out," Bessick said as he and his friend helped evacuate people trying to leave the exit on Bob White Road.

A Bell County spokesperson said in a shared statement at least 73 vehicles were destroyed in the fire.

Though, the cause of the fire remains under investigation, initial reports "indicate the fire possibly started from an inappropriately discarded cigarette in the parking area," the statement said.

Could you tell us where this was?

I fail to understand why so many people automatically assume that everyone knows where their locality is.

electric vehicle fire?

Or hot catalytic converters over dry leaves and corn stubble?

It has occurred to me after several recent articles that EV’s are a great resource for terrorism.
Available everywhere, uncontrolled, movement into “sensitive” area’s goes unnoticed, and clearly lethal if placed into the right situation then ignited.
Almost afraid to point this out, but I am sure the bad actors can see it on their own.
I am coming to the conclusion that they need to be banned from many places.

Looks like it was the Robinson Family Farm in Temple, Texas, about 1/3 of the way from Waco to Austin.

Whatever the cause of the fire it sounds like people were parked in uncut tall grass. I don’t see how else everything could catch fire like this.

Nah; bottom of a Coke bottle focused the sun... .

No? Well, maybe... .

Or, maybe wait for the investigation to finish, istead of wildly speculating.

Easily weaponized.

Especially if GPS enabled.

Thank you.

Often there is NO indication, even in the “topic” field.

I stand by my hot catalytic converter over cornstubble theory until proven otherwise.

Wow, that’s a bad fire. But imagine if 70 EVs in a parking lot all caught on fire. It would take weeks to extinguish. The Fire Department would have to bring in 70 dunk tanks to drop the burning hulks into.
