Like the heavily drug induced ravings of "One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest" justified releasing the insane into our streets?

Over a period of several weeks, Kesey ingested these hallucinogens and wrote of his drug-induced experiences for government researchers. From this experience, Kesey wrote his most celebrated novel, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, and began his own experimentations with psychedelic drugs.

Festterman is bereft of any sense of reason or hold on reality.

Perhaps he'd be better off institutionalized.

In the book/movie the ‘inmates’ were never released into (you mean onto) our streets. They did escape, sort of...
