The following is a lightly edited transcript of remarks made by Denise Long during a Newsweek episode of The Debate about black voters and the Democratic party. You can listen to the podcast here:
What I'm calling for is not for black Americans to bounce between the better of two evils, one or the other. It is to get the black American population to realize that we are the swing vote. Democrats can't win an election even without black Americans, which is why they make all these promises. Unfortunately, their theory of change requires black Americans to make our equity claim in the United States submissive to every other ambition in their serial list of special interest groups.
Republicans ... often seem to find themselves, by any objective measure, in the sort of pre-1863 mentality, or the pre-civil rights mentality. And what I do understand that Republicans have been doing, and it is not right, is trying to say that there is no longer a need for the federal government to oversee elections at the state level.

Black males are far more likely to vote Republican than black women.
I’m hoping the faggot from Indiana runs for POTUS in 2024.
Black and Hispanic males will not be enthusiastic to vote homo.
Uh Sorry, but I don’t see the Black community jumping off the plantation anytime soon, and if they did, why would we want them? They chose to abandon America and go back to the plantation with the promise of the Slave Masters taking care of them almost 60 years ago.
We heard this in 2020. Never happened. They aren’t going anywhere. They are happy on the RAT plantation.
Did Hell freeze over today?

liberty loving people are always welcome
We have Clarence Thomas. He’s the only person from the Black Community we need.
Well, he’s the most important, but he’s not the only one.
I’m afraid to look outside. There’s probably zombies...
Dream on.
Of all the GOP stupidities, this is by far the stupidist.

What is?
Because you are looking at it all wrong.
“What is?”
The idea that blacks in any significant numbers will ever vote for Republican candidates.
And this is not directed at you, but all the “plantation” comments are also ridiculous.
Overwhelming support by blacks for Democrats is perfectly rational, and in fact is pretty smart. To think that would ever change means you don’t understand much about why people vote the way they do.
Bingo. Many negroes have settled into being part of America’s first permanent leisure class and know the religion of politics brings them those blessings of subsidized permanent loafing, doping and fornication. The black on black mayhem and general Hobbesian nature of darktown, well that is whitey’s fault.
Why is it pretty smart?
Because it creates a tier of jobs that would not naturally arise, and it results in inter-community transfer of many billions of dollars that otherwise would not take place.
Remember when Obama was president? He did nothing for blacks, and a lot more for Hispanics.
You presume that a standard of living, and social peace, would arise organically and in the absence of the enormous financial transfers from whites and Asians, while that standard of living and social peace does not exist in any African-descended population anywhere on the planet.
It's a pretty idea, but it's imaginary.
And the math is wrong, too.
Republicans creating platinum plans and new government jobs cost them white votes. Whites outnumber blacks among voters.
Losing 1% of the white vote requires replacement by 3% more of the black vote. The GOP is getting good at losing those white votes, but the math of replacing them with blacks just doesn’t work.
