Fears were raised today that Belarus could join the conflict in Ukraine after President Alexander Lukashenko announced he will deploy a 'joint military task force' with Russia on the country's western border.
The dictator said this was in response to what he said was a clear threat to Belarus from Kyiv and its backers in the West, claiming without evidence that that Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine were training Belarusian 'radicals' for terror attacks, after announcing plans to deploy joint troops with Moscow.

'Strikes on the territory of Belarus are not just being discussed in Ukraine today, but are also being planned,' Lukashenko said at a meeting on security, without providing evidence for the assertion.
'Their owners are pushing them to start a war against Belarus to drag us there.'
'We have been preparing for this for decades. If necessary, we will respond,' Lukashenko said, adding that he had spoken to Putin about the situation while at a meeting in St Petersburg.

'My answer was simple: 'Tell the president of Ukraine and the other lunatics: if they touch one metre of our territory then the Crimean Bridge will seem to them like a walk in the park'.'
He also claimed Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine were training Belarusian 'radicals' to carry out terror attacks in his country.
'The training in Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine of Belarusian radical militants for them to carry out sabotage, terrorist attacks and to organise a military mutiny in the country is becoming a direct threat,' Lukashenko said.

Zelensky enjoys our hard earned taxpayer money and Putin does not?
I doubt very much if Belarus will join the war... but suspect Lukashenko will figure a way to swindle billions or trillions of Rubles from the Russians.
When your country is invaded, you fight the war.
You’re peddling moral equivalence claptrap. Growing up in Berkeley I got my fill of this from America hating Maoists and other assorted degenerate leftists. So, no sale here. Sorry.
Now, if you want to talk about “thug dictators”, you’ve got two in Putin and Lukashenko.
How many political parties are there in Belarus?
If Biden is for it, I’m against it. Ukraine is as dirty as they come.
So when Biden was against arming Ukraine last year you were for it? Conservatives are not Democrats. We can multitask.
Russia, actually, is much more corrupt than Ukraine. Had they not been so they would have certainly rolled Ukraine in 3 days like Putin planed. Instead the corrupt and fake Russian army melted in the fields of Kyiv.

Sad. I love Russia and it brings me no joy to see so many Russians pointlessly killed by Putin's stupid adventure.
Lukashenko is quite different from Zelensky. Lukashenko has no video’s of homo-erotic dance routines. Zelensky has those all over youtube. Also, Zelensky is a filed comedian in his backgreound. Don’t think Lukashenko ever tried to be a comedian.
I said it months ago - Lukashenko is a wily sod who fancies himself as a contender for the top spot when Putin goes. He does the rather brilliant thing of clowning it up to cover up the fact he actually is quite astute.
He slow walks aid to Russia despite being literally next door; he pledges to help and does so by putting his troops near Poland and the northern border (which can be justified to Putin despite taking them out of deployment in Ukraine).
He is not so stupid as to break the unity of the Budapest Agreement on behalf of Belarus, knowing that eventually Russia, Ukraine, NATO and Belarus will all have to come to some kind of deal.
Russia is using his territory as a launchpad but it’s Russia committing the Budapest violation not Belarus; nobody expects Lukashenko to be in any position to say no to Putin, so he doesn’t. But he isn’t exactly throwing his troops over the Ukrainian border either.
There are more Belorussian troops in Ukraine fighting for Ukraine, than against.
Lukashenko’s thinking that when peace has to be struck, by doing the bare minimum so far he’ll be the Kremlin’s preferred broker between the Ukrainian government and Moscow.
Lukashenko hasn’t lifted a finger in opposition to Moscow so there’s no real reason for Putin to threaten him. The Belorussian armed forces don’t want to fight for Russia, and they don’t want to fight against Ukraine. Lukashenko knows it.
It actually wouldn’t surprise me if Belarus takes on the role of taking in Russian conscripts (who ALSO don’t want to fight Ukraine), to reinforce his borders from imminent Kyiv invas... prevent him going out like Ceaucescu, fragged by his own people.
You might want to have a heart-to-heart with ZelenskyyIdiot then given the maimed and destroyed lives he throwing around as cannon-fodder, yeah?

Before Putin came along, Lukashenko was angling to unite Belarus with Russia, with him as leader.
And it will do better than any current 'military taskforce' because...?
Amen to that!
