still less than 100 total ... the US launched thousands in its “shock and awe”
and it’s nice to see Russia is wasting them on non-military targets that have no effect on the outcome
let’s see how long that can last
Shock and awe was a miserable failure. 10 years later Iran had more influence than the U.S. all these super powers need to learn that you can’t occupy another country. Of course they’ll never learn.
Well if they run out they can always drag out a could of rusty old nukes and find out if they work. Wonder if they will give them a good paint job before using them.
You commenting online about this is fine. Free country and all that. The problem is more that decision makers in Ukraine seem to be making decisions based on this information. If they attacked Russian civilian infrastructure (and now Belarus) eith the assumption that there would be no response because Russia is out of missiles that’s completely irresponsible. They didnt seem successful in defense against their attack on a few bridges. That’s poor planning. If you’re going to attack you have to be prepared for the response. People are actually depending on you.
It's not really about number of missiles, it's about tonnage of ordnance.
So, let's compare this piddly effort to Linebacker II.
On Day One of Linebacker II, 129 B-52s launched from Andersen and U-Tapao in three massive waves spaced at four-hour intervals. Each B-52 would carry 54,000 pounds (27 tons) of GP bombs. The total tonnage for day one is 3,483 tons of ordnance. These were dropped in and around Hanoi and Haiphong areas (2 cities and not all of North Vietnam).
If the missiles that Russia launched were the Kinzhal missile, then the warhead weight would be approximately 1000 pounds. 100 missiles would equal 50 tons of ordnance or 2 B-52 sorties.
It will take Russia 64 days to equal the tonnage of day 1 of Linebacker II.
Linebacker II lasted 11 days. So, it will take Russia over 23 months, firing 100 Kinzhal missiles per day, to equal the tonnage of Linebacker II.
Russia is not using Bomber aircraft...a clear indication they do not have air supremacy...but that is for discussion at a later time.
