Intentionally or not the Left is building the Wild West/Vigilante society that they have warned about for decades when spouting anti-firearm rhetoric.
When the society can not depend on the Justice system to protect it from lawlessness it will find the means to protect itself.
Either that or it will reform the system to that which it deems best able to fulfill its need for order and freedom.
I would guess that the first thing we will see (are seeing) is more and more people will carry concealed weapons and use them for self protection.
If lawlessness continues to be a problem vigilante groups will form and carry out policing and extra-judicial punishments.

A friend of ours had an aunt who was the victim of a slasher. I do not remember if she lived or not, but I have always thought I would much rather be shot dead quickly, than slashed many times with a knife.
