Any candidate running for the GOP Presidential nomination has to have the support of the majority of Trump’s voters. That’s one simple fact they can’t get around. Christie would not have that support. Therefore it would be foolish for him to run. The same goes for Pence.
They may dislike us and they are obvious in their disdain, but they HAVE to have our vote to win. That’s quite a conundrum and it’s going to be interesting to see how they solve such a problem.

So, Christie has emerged as the designated opposition.
To get media attention, there must be opposition to the Trump juggernaught. There must be discussion of what is proposed to come. Trump running with no Republican opposition can not create nor garner that discussion

I’ve never missed a November election since I was first eligible to vote. But if,by chance,he’s the nominee in ‘24 I’ll stay home. Fret not. He has about as much of a chance as I do, and I'm not even a Republican.
(My guess is that he knows this and he just sees an opportunity to recharge his political slush fund.)

3. Thinks Trump is toast and vying for a VP slot
