American broadcasting company Cumulus Media abruptly announced Thursday during a morning talk show that it’s ending the KGO (810 AM) news-talk format as listeners know it, and company officials told SFGATE in an email that it will be revealing a new brand on the channel on Monday.

I used to listen to Mel all the time on KSFO.
“I miss Bill Watenberg”
I called into his show a couple of times.
She looks like she just crashed her plane.
That’s a man, baby.
Lee Rodgers (with a “d”) was on KGO before KSFO. In the early 90s he had the late afternoon shift, just before Bernie Ward, and they used to debate each other on Mondays, they called it the Monday Night Fights. I always thought Rodgers got the better of it, but it turned out that Ward was a master debator.
I recommend the app “Right Talk” for radio listening. Many stations available.
I use it at night and when traveling :)
Brian Sussman took over when Rodgers retired in 2010 and co-hosted with Melanie Morgan until she left in 2013. Sussman continued to host until 2019 and he was a fantastic conservative host on KSFO as well.
I thought it all went downhill when Rodgers left.
I read his bio tonight. It’s an amazing success story.
KGO is such a powerful station, that at night, we can listen to it in Seattle, Washington.
Been listening to those two for years.
I'm sorry. His emanations should have been confined in California.
I go back to Ira Blue.
I knew that was you
Sure loved them all and Dr Don Rose on KFRC.
Dr Don wasn’t political on his on his show but
he walked the conservative walk in real life!
I think Lee Rodgers did his SF radio show from
Arizona for quite a while, didn’t he?
On another note I used to listen to Limbaugh on
KFBK 1530 Sacramento before he went to NYC to do
his national show. Pretty sure his first Bay Area
station was KNBR. Gary Radnich hated it but I
didn’t care for Gary’s lack of support for Bay Area
teams, anyway. Rush should never have had a sports
station for an affiliate. IMO.
I recall Pete Wilson trashing Reagan on a TV
editorial before RWR was elected. He said Reagan
would ruin the country if he ever became POTUS.
Wilson wasn’t 5% of a media personality as Reagan
was a president.
Re: 20 - Sports betting? LOL
Bet that lasts two - three years at most.
Back in the ‘60s, I listened to Mystery Chiller Theater.
At “Ten 0 Five”.
I think it was KGO. all the way to Eastern Washington.
I'm not sure, I'm not a Bay Area native and didn't arrive until the tail end of Lee Rodgers, so I'm more familiar with the Sussman era.
