Putin 'deploys Belgorod nuclear submarine which carries Poseidon underwater drone capable of unleashing radioactive tsunamis which lay waste to enemy coastlines'

Russian nuclear submarine Belgorod left its White Sea base

NATO warns sub might be on mission to test Poseidon drone, Italian media said Poseidon is a doomsday device designed to trigger a 1,600ft nuclear tsunami It comes after Putin threatened the West with nukes over the war in Ukraine

Vladimir Putin may have deployed a huge nuclear submarineNATO has warned its members.

The Belgorod has disappeared from its home base in the Arctic Circle and may be on its way to the Kara Sea to test the Poseidon nuke, a NATO warning note leaked to Italian media over the weekend has suggested.

Poseidon is a drone that is said to be capable of travelling huge distances underwater before detonating with enough force to trigger a 1,600ft nuclear tsunami designed to drown and irradiate coastal cities.

If the test does go ahead, it would be Putin's latest attempt to intimidate the West over his failing war in Ukraine after he was suspected of ordering stealth attacks on the Nord Stream pipes last week.

However, doubt was cast on its involvement because - at 600ft long - the submarine is one of the world's largest and getting into the Baltic undetected would have been extremely difficult.

It is also unclear whether the Belgorod would have had time to get from its home base in the White Sea to the Baltic - a distance of just under 3,000 miles - without its absence being noted.

NATO has since sent a warning to allies that the sub has gone missing, but said it is still thought to be operating in the Arctic.

The Belgorod submarine has been in operation since July.

Something is off about all of this. I’ve examined my privilege and checked my bias, but all of this seems… strange. I get the whole “ramblings of a madman,” but to risk nuclear conflagration over western hegemony doesn’t strike me as benefiting anyone.

“According to Russian media, the drone is capable of travelling for up to 6,000 miles underwater before exploding a nuclear warhead in its nose with a force of two megatons - more than 130 times times the size of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima.”

If the drone can travel 6,000 miles, it doesn’t need a ‘undetected submarine’ to launch it - it just needs a be dropped somewhere, anywhere and it can travel to its target on its own.

Maybe someone should buy the Daily Mail a map.

[trigger a 1,600ft nuclear tsunami]

1,600 feet high? 1,600 feet long?

Be nice if they pointed that out up front.

What better way to cancel the 2024 election is there than a nuclear detonation?

“If the drone can travel 6,000 miles........”

This is Putin’s arse licking media propaganda. The nuke drone prolly has a much lower range of say 500 miles. If nothing else, then for better communication between the drone and the submarine.

If I read Wiki correctly, looks like the warhead is 2 megaton or so.

That could put a serious downer on the day.

My guess, if deployed, it will fail and possibly even detonate in Russian waters. But who knows? The Kinzhal missile appears to be operationally successful.

Nothing about this story makes any sense to me. But hey, it added a couple of column inches to the author’s resume.

Western media is REALLY pushing this narrative, but like many have said recently, vis-a-vis the NordStream pipeline, destroying their own pipeline is just plain dumb. They had a perfectly viable mechanism to control the west, esp. Europe: they could just turn off the pipeline. Destroying it doesn’t benefit Russia in any way, not even narrative.

Now they’re talking nukes? This really does strike me as fear porn for the left. Putin is crazy, but I don’t believe he’s this crazy. Putin’s historically been strategically cunning, not off-his-rocker retarded.

The big reveal of this weapon reckoned it'd was away England from a detonation in the Atlantic that'd fly right over the Island of Ireland as if it wasn't there, before bouncing over Snowdonia.

This is what we Brits used to colloquially call "chinny reckon".

“a doomsday device designed to trigger a 1,600ft nuclear tsunami”

Another thing that I pointed out before is that a Tsunami is a disturbance and that the water at the source of the Tsunami is NOT the same water that washes up on the beach, unless the Tsunami source is right next to the beach...and in that case it won’t be anything close to 1600 feet. From a quick look on the web, the energy released in Japan’s 2011 Tsunami was about 1/3 of this device, so it will be a bit worse than Japan’s Tsunami, which would still be a bad day for many Northeastern cities, but then again...
