“As the push to EVs continues, people will be hoarding their old ICE cars.”
You mean lke my 48 Chevy pick, my 57 Bel Air and my 67 Camaro? Which are easy to repair and don’t need to pass smog?
I’ve seen this coming for a long time.
Are here you can pick up a good used pick up truck for very reasonable prices. I assume some folks are afraid gas prices going up will make driving them prohibitive.
The biggest problem is the supply of unique parts for things like door latches, window regulators, all the little bits and pieces that were made unique to a small group of vehicles, now long obsolete. Only the really popular classic cars have a large aftermarket supply that can be tapped into, and even that may be past its peak. As a basic premise, though - yeah, tough to top something simple and universal... like a Nova with a 350 and a Muncie 4-speed.
I haven’t been able to find a compressor for my AC in my truck thanks to that big eared communist jackass.
Life circumstance required me to get a wheelchair van about a year ago to transport my wife around. Even then late model used vans were pretty steep in price. Luckily I found a private sale for a 2001 Chrysler for under $5k. Normally I’d never would have considered a vehicle with 300k miles on it but in hind sight it’s been a blessing. I’ve had to put a bit of money and work into this it but so far it runs ok and gives us a bit of freedom to get around.
You might check RockAuto.com
Earlier this year I sold my 2016 Silverado to Carmax for $3822 less than I paid for it almost six years ago. It had almost 62,000 miles on it. I bought it brand new with no trade-in. Timing is everything.
I have a 2005 subaru legacy with less then 60,000 miles....going, going....
Relief is on the way in a few weeks in the user car market.
There will be a “flood” of used cars from Florida hitting the markets around the country real cheap.

Look for the high waterline in them automobiles. /sarc
I hate to say it but I bought three brand new cars in the last two years. The first two I sold to Carvana after having them for a year each because they paid me more for them used then I paid for them new...I made 5k profit on both and purchased a brand new KIA Telluride as my latest purchase.
Yes...more squeezing of the folk.
You really do not need freedom to move around at will!
Thank you for beaters!
1998 Honda CRV....261k...30mpg
All wheel drive...thank you Lord!
Every time Hubby takes our 2012 Honda Accord for maintenance everyone in the shop wants to buy it — for a lot.
Wait until the great recession of 2023. Demand will decrease for vehicles. New vehicle sales have been challenged for the past few years.
My car has 150K on it. It was passed to me from my mother when she couldn’t drive it anymore (she’s 87). I had to put some work into it, but the engine and transmission still work great. I’m gonna keep it around until she won’t go no more then find another beater.
They are a good source. Advice from my neighbor, a great mechanic.
Mr. GG2 still has his 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 custom with the Cummins engine and I’m still driving my 2006 Honda CRV with only 102,000 miles. It doesn’t have a ding on it and never breaks down. We’ve decided to wait til things get back to normal which they will and then buy a new truck.
A relative in California told me a used truck of his is now worth more than he paid for it many years ago.
