A suspected Russian sabotage attack on the Nord Stream gas pipelines was “probably premeditated and planned for” using an explosive device dropped into the sea weeks before it was detonated, according to a British defence source.
The European Union and Nato have described the large blasts in the Baltic Sea as a “deliberate act” of sabotage, with Russia labelled by Poland and Ukraine as the culprit, even as investigations continue.
The concrete and steel pipelines were torn open by apparent underwater explosions as strong as a minor earthquake, leading to three large gas leaks east of the Danish island of Bornholm. The blasts occurred in international waters, just beyond the territories of Denmark and Norway, and shockwaves were detected as far as 800 miles away.

I knew the British Ministry of Russian Hatred would be out with a statement.
Defies common sense. Russia can just shut the pipeline at its source location in RUSSIA!
Anyone know the whereabouts of Hung Cao when this went down?
:)
So I understand Russia was actually under contract to deliver more gas.
By sabotaging the pipes, they can fail to deliver without directly reneging on the contracts.
But there are a lot of countries and some individuals that would have motive.
This was almost certainly done by Biden
Makes no sense. They can just turn off the gas
The British press has lost all credibility.
The article is behind a paywall. Did the Times say WHY Russia would want to destroy the pipeline?
Because you gotta have a motive if you want to accuse someone of a crime.
Maybe the Russians intended to blow up the Norway-Poland Baltic Pipeline that opened yesterday, but missed...
Well I got nothin’ ‘gainst the press
They wouldn’t print it if it wasn’t true
Defies common sense. Russia can just shut the pipeline at its source location in RUSSIA!
~~~
I’ve been saying that all day.
But it did just occur to me, after reading this headline, but this is a very bad sign if it’s true. It tells me that Russia has resigned itself to all out war with NATO, and they don’t want to take the chance that NATO operations would try to secure the pipeline and it’s source infrastructure.
It still doesn’t seem likely to me though. How hard would it be for them to just bomb it if they needed to?
Why would they do that.
They could accomplish pretty much the same end result by turning a valve.
Now, it seems like a coincidence that a pipeline between Norway and Poland opened yesterday.
I don’t like international gas pipeline “coincidences.”
Why?
> By sabotaging the pipes, they [Russia] can fail to deliver without directly reneging on the contracts. <
That’s an interesting theory, and it kinda answers my post #9.
But it seems like a rather extreme way to get out of a contract. It would much easier for Russia to claim CIA sabotage at the source of the pipeline.
And anyway, so what if Russia reneged on a contract? What could Europe do about it?
That’s actually possible. They are right next to each other.
But the Norway line is no competition. It’s about 1/5 the capacity, I believe.
Uh, just command a couple valves closed......
“Makes no sense. They can just turn off the gas.”
Not only can they turn off the flow of gas, they can bloody well SELL it to someone else! Russian sabotage? Seriously?
And easily turn it back on when the war is over!
Are these the same British defense sources who labeled Trump a Russian agent?
